Umm, so I'm just wondering why we have TWO separate threads about the pirates with both labeled "The Pirates" lol?

I mean I don't hate them and I sort of admire how they've turned into a contender, but we really only need one thread for discussing all things Pirates-related...

So Cole left the game last night with triceps tightness. Doesn't that usually indicate a rotator cuff issue?

The Pirates are in a bad way right now, and are in the midst of a long, tough stretch. Their pitching isn't good, Cole (potentially) and Cervelli are hurt, and their best player is having a disappointing year. They could easily be 20 games back in the division and several in the WC by the break unless their fortunes turn.

Apparently Cole isn't going to the DL immediately. His next start is getting skipped. His first start after his skipped start will be against us next weekend, if he can't go then they are calling Taillon up to start in his spot and putting Cole on the DL retroactively. They wouldn't say what injury(s) he is currently dealing with though.

It's going to be fun to just finish these guys this weekend. They could be 15+ (!!!!) games back come Sunday!

Frankly, I'd rather see the Pirates make the poastseason than the Mets. I mean we own the Bucs. Is there another team that we'd rather see them face in October?

That said, the current stretch may put them in a deep, deep hole.

Yeah, I know all playoff series are largely crapshoots, but if we're going to walk away with the #1 seed like I expect us too, I'd much rather see some combination of St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Miami in the wild card game than NYM and LAD.

I don't know if a fan of a MLB team in June could ever definitevly say "if my team wins the next 6 games the division race is over" in a non hyperbolic way, but here we are.

Assuming their pitching doesn't get fixed, I'd throw LA in the group I wouldn't mind facing since they'd only be able to throw Kershaw once.

I always feel like its tempting fate to root for certain teams to make the postseason, but if the bum Marlins make the postseason I couldn't imagine a better scenario for the Cubs.

Miami being held together by a bunch of slap hitters BABIPing their way to .300+ averages and one pitcher, and everything else is garbage.
