Some reporter tried to get him to give the 'I thought I'd be out of baseball' answer last night and asked him how he thought he was feeling about 3 years ago around now, but he said he thought he would be pitching like this and I guess he wasn't lying.

That's incredible.

it's agreed that 2000 Pedro was the best pitching season in history; he had a ERA- of 35, that year

in his last 24 starts, Arrieta's ERA- is 22.

that's what 20-1, 0.86 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, .150/.199/.214 opponent line gets you, apparently

apparently, according to jake on the score today, good players on other teams have asked cubs players if arrieta is using PEDs.

Ha! I heard part of that discussion, but thought it was in reference to a caller from earlier that had asked about that. PED's might be the case if he was up there throwing 100mph or something, but that's not how Jake does it.

If PEDs give us a pitcher like Arrieta the question should be why everyone isn't taking what he's taking to give us a better product, not lets ban him/the substance(s).

*Note I don't think he's taking any banned PEDS

SI article, "oldie" but goodie, long but solid. We are lucky he lets us cheer for him...

I think the Pilates stuff is a big part of the secret sauce.

Dude's body control is insane.

I think the point is that is, in fact, credible.

So are we going to wind up giving him a 6-7 year deal? If not are we just going to let him walk? Giving a 6-7 year deal to a 31/32 year old kinda makes me cringe. Even if it is Arrieta.

We thank him for his time, feel grateful that we got the best seasons of his career at an extremely discounted rate, and let him go on his way. And hopefully we'll have won a World Series together, as well.
