Add Schwarber to the kinda injured, probably could use an off day or 3 pile with Russell and Heyward

Pretty good article/interview on Lester's pickoffs. It really is amazing how effective they've become, in a total team effort, in shutting down the running game when he's on the mound.

This was a good article. I'm glad to see Jon decide to talk about it. Hopefully his frustration will continue to abate as we find ways to combat the issue. He really just needs to be calm and not worry about the runners and let everyone else take care of that horsefeathers. And hopefully that might help him some, too, like it did against the Cards.

If I could tell Jon one thing it's that not everyone was focused on his yips instead of his run prevention in the playoffs last year. We know what he did for us. :hello:

They've seemed to of handled Addy's shoulder and Zobrists wrist injury very Mets like this year. I hope this isn't a trend moving forward.

The handling of these injuries is mind-boggling, especially with the depth we have (or at least had until other injuries/Schwarber sucking arose). We sent LaStella down to the minors because of a roster crunch.

I mean Russell probably isn't available, Zobrist and Heyward are still on the DL and we are facing a lefty tonight so LaStella, Montero and Jay make sense not starting. The order may be weird but (whatever that doesn't really matter) those guys probably give us the best chance.

Statcast now reporting on player speed: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sprint_speed_leaderboard?year=2017&position=&team=

The fastest Cub and in the Top 15 of all MLB is....Happ?

Bryant is the fastest 3B, faster than both Baez and Russell. Contreras is 2nd among catchers behind the shockingly fast Realmuto.

Montero is the 3rd slowest player in all of MLB, ahead of McCann and Pujols.

I'm not sure if this is measuring average or simply the fastest recorded time so take it with a grain of salt, but still fun.

They're averaging it based on the average of at least 10 "max effort runs" for the leader boards. Basically, any time a guy is in a full sprint they pick the fastest one second window of that run and throw it into the set from which they derive the average.
