Damn

I think they probably forgave him for being shitfaced on the radio complaining about PT but this was throwing a specific teammate under the bus and that's not ok.

Wow, I knew the comments Miggy made were harsh but I didn't expect Rizzo to be so directly critical of them. Good stuff.

Yeah I mean he's partially right as discussed in the game thread last night but that's a really shitty move to directly call out a teammate to deflect blame from yourself. Looks especially bad when you are 0-31 at throwing out runners this year regardless of pitcher and you have the 2nd slowest recorded pop time of any catcher in the majors.

He could barely get the ball past the mound on the fly. Hopefully it's Caratini time, anyone have any thoughts on him defensively?

If you didn't like Miggy's defense, I've got some bad news about Caratini.

Bad. Unclear if better than Montero.

Yeah. Tommy Birch was on the radio this morning, basically said scouts were iffy on him early on but lately the reports on his defense have gotten much better.

You're also losing Montero's elite framing, and Montero is a better offensive bet than Caratini the rest of the season too. Caratini's at 28% CS% this year, which would be league average if it continued in MLB.

So Carlos Corporan? Hopefully Tim Federowicz hasn't already pawned his WS ring he could probably use a job.

Hmm... BP and Clay Davenport both hate his defense this year a lot less than they have in the past.

from Longenhagen [5/9]:

A passable receiver with average raw arm strength, Caratini’s defensive shortcomings lie with his ball blocking and immobility. But he’s an excellent hitter from both sides of the plate (but especially from the right side) and projects for an above average bat without the game power to profile at first base. Scouts consider Caratini a species of player more commonly found in the American League, one who can DH, play some first base and occasionally put on his catcher’s gear. He could make for an interesting trade chip in July.
