Of course he was.

And a source familiar with the Cardinals says former scouting director Chris Correa was just doing general tech support.

in the time from the catcher putting his numbers down and the pitch being thrown, if the other team can get the pitch to the batter from some guy with binoculars in center field in a cavern good for them.

Thank god technology hasn't advanced yet to allow for immediate communication between multiple people, else our game wouldnt remain pure.

guy in CF still has to walkie somebody, who then has to flash a signal to a guy that is concentrating on a pitch that has to be on its way by this time. I remain of the opinion that if they are able to do all that and it works then good for them.

The signal to the batter would probably be verbal in some pre-determined fashion. I'd think it would be reserved for the more crucial situations later in the game. For all we know, that guy was just collecting info for later use.

No matter what the Padres were up to, there is no doubt that the Cardinals are always up to something. They are like those fiercely anti-gay politicians who end up getting caught with a guy in a bathroom (or in their case in another teams database).

Even in, like, high school babe ruth we would be badasses and steal signs if we had the angle by saying "let's go kid!" if it was a fastball or "let's go (last name)!" if it was offspeed.

No wonder Jason Kidd washed out of the sport.

The Cubs are still the Cubs until proven otherwise.

It absolutely boggles my mind that a presumably educated person actually believes this. I could understand it if the Cubs had a team filled with players that choked miserably in the past (yes the Cubs got swept by the Mets but that was a systematic destruction not players choking IMO). But to believe some higher power is directing the Cubs to fail simply because they are the Cubs is ridiculous as a serious argument.

it's all cardinals and white sox fans have left to cling to. it's a good thing. that line and the goat references.

Plenty of Cards fans in Central Illinois who are talking about all the times the Cubs got off to a hot start then faded down the stretch. When was that 1977 and 1969.

I loaded up the FSMW MLB.tv feed of the Cards/Nats game from last night, and the intro was something like "would you rather have a team with the best player (showing Harper), or a team of great players (showing gritty Card highlights)? This weekend it's glitz and glamour versus guts and grit!" That last part is pretty much verbatim.

It was eye rollingly gross.

It's no wonder many of their fans are so obnoxiously deluded when their media spoon feeds them the narrative.
