Doesn't seem like anybody is able to find anything corroborate this.

I saw it mentioned during the game yesterday either on Twitter or somewhere else online. Possibly in the game thread.

Why is it even surprising? 40,000 people, many of them rednecks and many of them angry at Heyward, a few of them yelling racial slurs within range of ESPN's mics is not even a little bit shocking to me.

Apparently this is Anthony's nephew.

That's excellent. I got a towel like that as a gift for my on-the-way son, only it was Michigan instead of STL.

Yeah, I've lost count of how many live n-bombs I've heard around me at Wrigley, especially when I've been in the bleachers. It's horsefeathering horrible.

I don't remember hearing any before, but I have no doubt they happen far too often.

this whole saga is tiresome fanbase sanctimony; let's get back to joking about DUIs

Yeah of course they are not the only ones with idiot racist fans. But if they (yes I'm going to group all Cardinals fans together and am aware that many if not most don't live up to stereotype, oh well) are going to reverently refer to themselves as the BFIB to anyone who will listen, they deserve to get singled out when stuff like this happens.

Yup, the BFIBB stuff is why it's fun to ridicule for this sort of things. Lots of sports fans are terrible in general. Some of the stuff with Fukudome was bad and some of the reasons for a guy like Kowasaki being a fan favorite could be sketchy.

Kowasaki would be a likable goofball even if he he spoke perfect English. If you think his fandom is sketchy...well, I don't wanna be legit. Although I can understand the sensitivity after some of the Fukudome stuff, who was not a cuddly underdog weirdo.

The racist Fukudome stuff had zero to do with Fukudome's personality.

Which is what he said

Although I can understand the sensitivity after some of the Fukudome stuff, who was not a cuddly underdog weirdo.

This seems to be saying the issue with Fukudome was that he wasn't a goofball like Kawasaki so he was more touchy about it, instead of it simply being awful for being racist.

To me he's saying the Fukudome stuff was much more icky because it clearly had no basis in his personality, while Kawasaki is a big goofball who is trying to be funny (some of it is icky and some/most of it is just a goofy dude).

Reading CardsTalk discussing the slurs report. One person says that stuff doesn't happen at Royals games. A poster then replies asking how many "colored ball players" the Royals have.

"Best Fans in Bigotry" is something i can definitely stand to see become a thing, even if its hypocritical and not entirely rooted in fact.

I think this interpretation is obviously correct, but to be fair, sofa never heard of Fukudome.
