There's at least a couple of goofy meatballs there who seem REALLY invested in the idea of "unwritten rules" being enforced via violence as a kind of life mantra. TT was brave for wading in to that one.

And that's the "good" Cardinal forum.

To be fair, there are quite a few very good posters over there. But there are are also a number of irrationally homer-tastic, meatball, delusional wingnuts, a few of whom are the ones keeping that particular discussion going.

Viva el Birdos isn't that bad on balance, either. Cards Talk is a total cesspool.

As I know some of you have seen, a few of the guys over at GRB are a little bent out of shape about how much the Cubs are walking so far this year:

Now if MLB wants to fix something, it's a rule to get the bats off of these guys shoulders. That is effective, but it is not fun to watch.

I seriously doubt the umpires will let this go on for the entire season

i think a start would be to brush rizzo off the [expletive] plate.

I would knock that mother [expletive] down in a heartbeat. He is absolutely on top of the plate.

You know, without a shadow of a doubt, that if it were the Cards walking at a record setting pace, Cards fans would be falling all over themselves to effusively praise them for their superior plate discipline.

Yes they would be talking about they are BFIB for coaxing Matt Carpenter into a curtain call for his 4 walk performance.

Yeah, there were some other GWR users giving good counter-arguments, but not nearly enough. Too much meatball leeway.

Also, it should be noted that our walk total is not solely because we go up to the plate with the intention of not bringing our bats off of our shoulders. A lot of it has to do with the fact that we have a bunch of dongsmiths that opposing pitchers are afraid to serve up a meatball. So they are more cautious and nibble. So, maybe the opposition should pitch us some damn strikes, so we can smack them out of the yard instead.

Birds on the Bat is also awful.

There is nothing better than watching Sox and Cardinals fans get all worked up over the Cubs. Nothing.

I believe watching the Cubs win is much better. Much.

I enjoy the schadenfreude, but yeah.

Well, there's usually a positive correlation between the two, so it's the best of both worlds. If Cubs fans had to choose between the Cubs being good and others getting worked up about the team, I doubt many would choose the latter. We're not White Sox fans, after all.

And they are, without a doubt, the same type of people who want to arm all the teachers

i liked the one guy who is going full meatball and another poster said "c'mon AW, you're better than this." to which the meatball started his response with "No I'm not better than this." well okay then.

Pretty sure one of them is the Darren Wilson jersey-guy.

There was a funny moment during the Cardinals game yesterday. I had it on while I was at the gym, and when Hazelbaker hit a homer, McCarver got all wet and yelled out "you're about to see hazelbaker's first curtain call in about 25 seconds!"

So the camera focuses on him in the dugout and ... Nothing. The other announcer meekly said "some of the fans are trying to give him one," and McCarver later said that his celebration in the dugout was too long for the fans to have given him the curtain call. They were so horsefeathering ready for the best fans in baseball they blue themselves on a dry run.

yeah that was great, he started blaming a guy that poured water on Hazelbaker and how that threw off the timing for it

A Cardinal not knowing how to drink ruins everything for everyone yet again.
