"league tarnishing" is.....something I guess.

I think this was my favorite part....

"I'm a season ticket holder that paid to watch a half decade of s*** games from the Cubs. Now as a handful of other teams follow suit I've got even more garbage on the schedule. The "tank hard" strategy is cool when you want to build a championship at all costs but it cheapens the product across the league. I'm actually probably more mad at MLB than Chicago that this is a growing concern, but as a consumer and taxpayer of a publicly subsidized entertainment product I am not thrilled with my money going towards watching teams that are literally trying to lose, and then hearing them brag about how great they are when they finally win."

The Cubs FO is the worst thing that could have happened to the Cardinals. It's not just that their rival won a ring, but the only big market franchise in the division realized that they're big market and, oh yeah, hired the smartest guys in baseball. The Cards could easily be looking up for a long time if they don't start thinking differently.

Why aren't they acknowledging that Houston tanked longer and harder and have less to show for it?

I think we both know the answer

It cracks me up how it's mutated to "the Cubs tanked on purpose for 5 seasons," like Hendry was in on it or something.

Plus isn't the general consensus that 2014 turned into a "tank" year as opposed to them going into it like they did the previous 2 seasons?

I saw some highlights from their game tonight, and, my god, they are so terrible defensively.

They are so bad. And teams finally seem to be running on Dexter's arm, something I was always surprised to see more teams not try to take extra bases on when we had him.

I wasn't sure where to start with that pile of BS, so I just laughed loudly at the publicly subsidized part.

The combination of that plus Matheny's inability to grasp any of the finer strategic parts of the game is likely going to make this another long season for them.

The Reds, the tanking-est team in the division currently, are 6-7 in their last 13 games at Busch.

There were quite a few walkoffs and good games in there.

The most amusing thing for me is the newfound fascination with Matt Adams, he of the career .769 OPS, in left field. He didn't even start practicing left until late in spring training. He even looks shaky on routine fly balls

If they had any competent analytics people, you'd think those people would be either calling Matheny a horsefeathering idiot to his face or quitting.

I find it hilarious how a lot of Cards fans blast the Cubs for putting Schwarber in left, calling him incompetent in the field, then Matheny puts that clown show in left. Too funny.

In that second video, anyone else notice that he runs into the Ozzie Smith billboard thingy as he makes a terrible defensive play.

Most of those posters aren't mad that a team tanked. They're mad the Cubs did it and did it so successfully.

Yeah, somehow I doubt they were this bothered by the decades of mostly futility before 2015.

Yeah, I can't imagine they were crying over the Cubs tanking when the Cubs were, you know, tanking. It was fine when they sucked on purpose until that netted positive results later
