Fangraphs is projecting a three way tie between the Mets, Giants, and Cardinals. I really want this to happen.

If only the Dodgers could get on board and create a massive losing streak and give us a 4 way tie.

Let me preface this by pointing out something I don't really think I need to point out. I'm a well known Vin Scully hater.

That said - these are pretty great.

I have always enjoyed listening to Vin Scully. I think a big part of it is that he was the voice of the playoffs and World Series for a large part of my childhood. Hearing him broadcast a game now doesn't sound all that much different than it did 20-30 years ago. I have been going to bed each night this week with the Dodgers broadcast on MLB.tv and will likely continue to do that for most nights up until the end of the season. I'm sure some people have good reasons for disliking him, but for me he is easily the most iconic voice in baseball history and I want to listen to him as much as possible while I still can.

I mean I get that...I kinda feel that way about Jon Miller and Morgan even though they are awful, especially Morgan. But he's a rambling old man and everyone tries to pretend he's still on top of his game.

Pizza is the best food in the world, but if I find a moldy, festering slice between the stove and the counter, I'm not going to eat it, no matter how much I loved that pizza when it was edible.

Probably.

Point is, even the best things become too old and terrible.

Haha I was over at WSI for my weekly dose of schadenfreude and I came across this comment:

Whatever, no matter what happens--even if the Cubs win ten titles in a row-- nothing will ever change the fact that the Sox beat them there. I don't care how big any Cubs World Series parade could possibly be--nothing will ever change the fact that its the second one Chicago has seen in recent memory.

That's the "we woulda won State" of professional sports fandom.

Ha, a college friend of mine and I would constantly make the same joke the year following that World Series.

Once again their "flubbies postseason thread' will be the most active thread for the year 2016 like it was last year.

They sure are obsessed with the Cubs, when the Sox won I really didn't care especially since Houston was in the Cubs division, I really didn't want the Astros to win. I think I watched like 1 inning of that whole WS.

The White Sox weren't even a blip on my childhood radar until I went to college and met three of the nastiest Cub-hating White Sox fans ever. They were nice guys and we're still friends to this day, but they opened my eyes to this weird one-sided "fan rivalry".

Of course, two of the three guys ended up being my roommates when the White Sox won the World Series. I did not enjoy that month.

They are bragging about this....

This reminds me of the night the Sox won it all. I was watching at a bar on Clark Street near Wrigley (one of the ones that changes names every 2 years so I cant even remember the name), just for ****s, giggles and potential schadenfreude. When they won the 90% of the people there went crazy (all Sox fans obviously) and filtered out of the bar joining the other Sox fans. It wasn't like when the Cubs clinch a playoff berth where they have to close off the streets, but it was pretty packed with celebrating Sox fans.

Anyways, the reason I tell this story is because I walked up to Wrigley field, and saw a group of about 50 Sox fans standing right in front of the marquee, facing it, chanting "CUBS SUCK! 1908!! YOU'LL NEVER WIN!!" (there was also a Cubs fan sitting against the front gate looking dejected and mumbling something about 'when is it going to be our turn' hehe).

good lord i can't even imagine the white sox beginning to cross my mind after we win a world series

I'm actually getting more of a kick from the first part, where it seems like they're bragging over how Sox fans "took over" when they won WS...Wrigleyville is Chicago's bar neighborhood. That same thing happened each year the Blackhawks won. How could anyone think this was an accomplishment, or sticking it to Cubs fans.

Seriously, why are these guys so hung up on the Cubs and their fans?
