This Tom Murphy home run went a good distance, but it was right down the line. Hit Tracker puts the distance at 443 feet, which seems accurate given it's 347 feet to the left field foul pole and he hit it onto the concourse by what looks to be about 100 feet past the foul pole, give or take.

Statcast listed it at 482 feet which further convinces me that statcast has home runs distances completely and unequivocally wrong.

For reference, they said this Stanton home run travelled only 22 feet further than Murphy's (504 feet).

A year earlier, Stanton hit this home run, which Statcast said travelled 478 feet, 4 feet SHORTER than Murphy's and 26 feet shorter than his 504 foot home run which appeared to have travelled a similar amount of rows up into the stands not more than 10-15 feet to the left of his 478 foot home run.

those don't seem egregious to me. the 30 foot difference between the first two seems about right; the shorter being in the middle of the section and the other being up at least a few rows and towards center field. assuming a relatively constant distance between the concourse and the wall as it follows the perimeter of the outfield, the concourse at the power alley is 50 feet farther away from home plate that it is down the left field line. so 482 to the concourse down the line vs 504 to the power alley a few rows down from the concourse doesn't seem at all outrageous

I personally can't figure out how Russell's monstrous dinger from yesterday was hit less than 400 feet when it hit the friggin train tracks

That porch in left is sooooooo short.

The Staten Island Yankees are asking fans to suggest a new team name as they look to create a new brand identity. They opened up the floor for nominations and narrowed down the list to a handful of the top candidates. Among the options are the Staten Island Bridge Trolls, State Island Heroes, Staten Island Killer Bees, Staten Island Rock Pigeons, and last but certainly not least, the Staten Island Pizza Rats.

Someone on Reddit was curious what Bonds' overall numbers would've looked like without his MVP seasons factored in. He would've had an 87.2 WAR. Here's some highlights:

- 87.2 WAR would rank in the top 30 all-time for position players, right between George Brett and Wade Boggs.

- A 152 wRC+ is also top-30, on par with the likes of Joe DiMaggio, Miguel Cabrera, Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols and Hank Aaron.

- His SLG would be up around 20th all-time, along with Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays.

- He would have more WAR than Reggie Jackson, Ken Griffey, Jr., Pete Rose, Joe DiMaggio or Chipper Jones. He falls just a bit shy of Albert Pujols and Cal Ripken, Jr.

- Even without his '00-'04, he still would have a better BB% than any HoFer not named Ted Williams (who's better than normal Bonds, believe it or not) or Babe Ruth.

- He'd have one more stolen base than Derek Jeter and 20 more than Willie Mays.

- In terms of total offensive value, he'd compare to Gary Sheffield, Jim Thome and Mark McGwire. Defensively he's... I dunno... Shane Victorino? For baserunning....... let's just say David Wright?

Does anyone ever feel like going back to the days of Babe Ruth and Willie Mays!!

What Great Legends!!

I would love to live in the time fold where Babe Ruth and Willie Mays played at the same time.

AJ Preller suspended 30 days without pay for the Padres messing with/failing to report their players injuries/treatments/etc. to the MLB database available to teams when they are discussing players in trades.

Is there any doubt Lee Pace was born to play Preller in a movie that doesn't deserve to be made
