I'm not sure who that coach is since David Bell was ejected before this, but that little "go get em" butt slap to Garrett as he clearly turns towards the Pirates dugout is pretty great too.

Is that Derek Johnson?

God I hate Jason Benetti. Always crying over balls and strikes. Such a small baby of a person. He makes me hate the Sox; at least hawk was entertaining in his belly aching.

I’m sorry but no complaint that includes “at least hawk” is valid.

I find it really strange in this day and age that the White Sox still haven't figured out that besides being good the next best thing you could probably do to increase interest in your team is to have really good announcers on TV and radio. Not only do they need to be able to pander to the base, but create an appeal to the non base. Probably not going to happen if you just keep saying "We are getting screwed"

I was under the impression Bennetti was really good and pretty widely respected across baseball? I’d have to be pretty desperate to actually turn on a Sox game, especially with how much fun the cubs have been for the last couple months, so not speaking from too much personal experience.

I will occasionally turn on some WS games when flipping around, and Bennetti is really annoying. They could be down 6 runs, and a Sox player will get a hit in the 7th and you’d swear it was a game tying HR. He has a little bit of Chip Carey in him, which is not good. ESPN has him doing basketball and football games. I guess he’s got a good rep in the industry.

Benetti is a really good announcer, and has even made Stone decent again.

On the White Sox topic, their game was really fun last night, Phillies ran out of pitchers so had a position player pitching with Vince Velazquez in LF. He throws out Abreu at the plate in the 14th. Almost does it again in the 15th(went to replay), then ended the inning with a diving catch that statcast gave a 15% chance of making.

Truly thankful for Led and JD every time I watch a bit of a Sox game. The blatant bias and just general whining is so off putting. You don't like a missed ball/strike for the Sox that's fine, but don't completely and totally ignore it when it happens the other way too.

Just random stat browsing and I came upon an interesting little nugget. Over the last 20 years, on a season per season basis, Zach Britton has 4 of the 5 highest ground ball rates among all relievers including an 80 GB% in 2016. His 78.9% this year is 10.3% ahead of 2nd.

Zack Greinke remains incredible: https://theathletic.com/1116748/2019/08/05/i-love-that-guy-the-diamondbacks-will-miss-zack-greinke-their-awkward-and-brutally-honest-teammate/

Patrick Corbin, former Diamondbacks starter: My first time meeting him, he told me how he got a base hit off of me. That was our very first conversation ever.

Lamb: He’s been playing a long time and is one of the best in the game, so our first year together I asked him, “Do you have a favorite strikeout? Is there a guy you idolized growing up that you struck out?” He kind of gave me the nod, thinking, thinking, and then he started laughing. Like, belly laughing. I was like, “You got one?” He was like, “Yeah. It was actually here at Chase Field. I threw a changeup in the other batter’s box and the guy swung and almost fell over.” I said, “Zack, was that me two years ago?” He started laughing even louder. “Yeah, that was you.”

Bradley: We all know how Zack approached spring. He had a really bad spring outing in 2017 where he gave up a bunch of runs and he was throwing really slow. He came back in and he looked at Shelby Miller and he said, “If I pitch that bad, I might be as bad as you were last year, Shelby.”

Adam Jones, outfielder: Earlier in the year, we were on the bus and he said, “When did you become good?” Very direct. I asked him, “What do you mean? I’ve got 12 years in the bigs and I’m 33. I’ve been kinda good most of the way.” But he was like, “No, your first year was OK. Then you turned it on in High A and Double A and Triple A. What clicked?” I’m like, “What the hell is going on with you?”
