Nice of Tampa to make good after they insulted him with his contract renewal (only a raise of $15,500) a couple of weeks back.

“If that’s what they want to do, that’s what they can do,’’ Snell said. “Hopefully this pushes me. Arbitration will be the business side, and that’s what I’ll tell them. I think fair is fair. It all comes around in the end anyway. At the end of the day, you get what you put in. I’ll be motivated.’’

It's looking like the next 5ish years the only free agents will be people currently under contract with the Cubs.

Just wait until that new TV deal kicks in, though. /s

We'll be able to sign 3 Descalso's an off season instead of just 1...

I’m looking at these Severino, Mikolas, Nola and Snell extensions, plus the fact that Yu Darvish is the only Cubs starting pitcher signed through 2021 and wondering how the Cubs haven’t extended Hendricks.

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/26340671/after-making-roster-rangers-hammel-retire

Veteran right-hander Jason Hammel has informed the Texas Rangers he is retiring after earlier being told by the team he would make the Opening Day roster.

So I'm kinda bummed that Hammel is deciding to retire now. Hoping he could go out on a stronger note. I just calculated it and Hammel was pretty good during his tenure with the Cubs. In 446 IP over 3 years he had a solid 3.59 ERA. He was outstanding in 2014 (2.98 ERA) before he got traded to the A's. It seemed like he was always great in the first half before fading and struggling in the second half. I still remember some dominant starts from Hammel with the Cubs. Hope he rejoins the organization in some capacity and wish him luck in whatever he decides to do next.

This one always makes me laugh.

so i ended up at a plain white t's show in rosemont last night out of nowhere and then i saw the band that did this song from mvp baseball

13-14 year old me loved this band, to the point where I probably saw them about a dozen times at HOB...this was a couple years before this album came out.

Fast forward to last year, my Dad starts a new job at TD Ameritrade (of all places) helping investors with legal questions, and I'm on the phone with him one night last summer he said that weekend he's planning on going to Naperville Fest (or something similar) to see his co-workers band. I looked up the schedule, and yep...Lucky Boys Confusion. Turns out being a lead singer for a crappy pop punk band for 20 years doesn't get you out of having to work a 9-5 for the Ricketts.

LBC was my friend groups favorite band during my senior year of high school. We saw them at the metro last year for the nostalgia factor. Their crowd seemed way older than I remember! It feels strange to pretend to be young again.

That song was perfect in MVP Baseball. It just sounds like it was made to accompany baseball. And I, too, became a LBC fan because of it. I honestly really like that whole album the song came from, there's a lot of catchy tunes on it.
