This is like the second best team in all of our lifetimes according to the playoffs, why undersell that?

And almost everyone in our lineup is <25, and cost-controlled for at least four more seasons. Even the magical Cardinals never put together an offense like this.

Hate to throw truth on the pity party, but 2015 is an enormous success by any measure.

Oh yeah, everyone knows that. In a day after we've all stepped back this will be easier to say.

I really wish MLB was like the Premier League and just had a regular season.

If we adopted the entire structure we'd be battling with the Binghamton Mets in AA instead of the New York Mets

Who gives a [expletive] about the regular season? This team along with the 2008 team tore the regular season to [expletive] and both ended with the team forgetting how to hit and pitch. There's zero satisfaction in going out like this regardless of how regular season wins they had

Beating the Cards was pretty cool

Just have to believe that these things are crap shoots and we just need to make the playoffs every damn year to breakthrough

Yeah that was cool, but I don't get the logic of being satisfied showing our asses in the LCS just because they had a nice regular season. Nobody's going to feel satisfied with the memory of beating Cincinatti in June.

The [expletive] Pirates game and Cards series. Why are you talking about the Reds and June??

Because I'm addressing the idea that the unexpected regular season success is somehow a panacea for this suck fest.

Nice to see Baez busting his ass down the line. At least someone is still trying

Definitely, though inevitably Kyle is going to run in here and point out how bright the future looked after 2003, too.

Personally, I was expecting/hoping for them to finish in the 85-87 win range. That would have been an enormous success to me with all of the new players and after how craptacular the previous several seasons had been. Finishing with 97 wins? Beating the Pirates in the WC? Beating the Cardinals the first time either team had played each other in the playoffs? And after losing game 1? [expletive], what a crazy season.

Yup. That's were I'm at. It would be unfair of me to get all pissed off and act like "How dare they [expletive] the bed in the NLCS!" when i didn't even think they were going to make the playoffs.

Lol it doesn't matter anymore but it's hysterical that every ball is literally going right the [expletive] to a Met

I want Cueto and Price dammit

Jaxon is off the books. That's 12 million freed up correct?

One more season, brother.

two more seasons of hammel though

Nope. One more.

One + option but I think the option has vesting for performance.

Two for Montero :-/

Given the choice, would you guys lock in an extended run of 90s Braves like dominance if you knew it would yield one title and playoff disappointment the vast majority of the time or would you rather roll the dice and see if we can rip off a couple of titles, or more, with no guarantee that we would win any?

I'd take the title in a heartbeat. I think it would be crazy not to, honestly.

is it based on getting past the third inning?

Lol I can't believe Hammel melted the [expletive] down even worse than I jokingly said he would

[expletive] surreal that we've given up runs in the first inning of every game this series and have never once gotten a lead. What a shellacking

My least favorite part of the playoffs is how the announcers always start making up anecdotes about whatever mediocre nobody is having a good few games.

Remember kids, after every trip to the playoffs we (older fans) were convinced that we had just had a good season and the future was bright.
