I wish they felt more comfortable with Schwarber catching, since we have so many raging dongsmen with a 1.200+ OPS against Wacha, and Montero is not one of them. Dream with me, if you will:

CF Fowler .900 OPS

RF Soler 1.500

1B Rizzo 1.206

LF Bryant 1.264

2B Castro 1.296

C Schwarber ---

3B Baez 1.200

SS Russell 0.(doesn't matter)

Is that this year or lifetime? I'm assuming this season only

Let us assume that the Cubs have a 2-1 lead going into game 4. Why would Matheny bother to pitch Lackey on short rest? They still need to win BOTH games 4 and 5. Keep Lackey on his normal rest and start whoever the hell for game 4. I don't think it makes sense to play Lackey on short rest just to have him play at Wrigley.

You have to win game 4 before you can win game 5, that's why. It clear that he's their best pitcher and they have to win.

What's his career numbers on 3 days rest. That's a factor as well. Slightly worse stuff and a shorter outing vs full rest

The Cubs will destroy him.

This is a good matchup for the Cubs. Wacha has been throwing more 4 seamers and change ups. The Cubs generally guess hit more than other teams. Watch his arm side run early on, if it's flat, they'll hit him as he'll miss in the zone. It's good that his most hittable pitch is the one he is currently throwing 60% of the time.

My line would be...

Fowler

Schwarber

Bryant

Rizzo

Castro

Montero

Soler

Arrieta

Russell

The weather forecast for Monday is pretty interesting. Is Wacha a fly ball pitcher?

Slightly above league average at 31% while the league is at 30.5.

Thanks! 20-40 mph WSW winds in the forecast. Recipe for a crazy game tomorrow?

So is 5PM start time official or is still possible they have it at 3:30PM if the Rangers win? I think I seen a tweet from the Cubs saying that if Blue Jays win then it's at 5

Correct. It all depends on the game tonight. 5:07 if the Jays win, 3:37 if the Rangers win.

Wind blowing out would be incredibly fortuitous for us. Arrieta's been getting groundballs at an absurd, Keuchel-like rate in the second half. Wacha is average and our dongsmiths will feast on his offerings.
