Is there something about Arrieta in terms of delivery or age or something that makes Maddon not worried about having him go over 110+ pitches every start?

I guess so far we haven't seen any signs of the workload affecting him but I'm worried it will at the wrong time.

not that i'm defending the decision, but joe said he's the most well conditioned athlete he's ever been around. he really doesn't look like he ever labors and so i'm sure there is truth behind this mentality, but it doesn't seem like it's necessary.

Maddon probably doesn't want to pull him from a cgso for his twentieth win without him getting into any trouble. It's Jake's fault for being so amazing.

Yeah but I'm not worried about him being gassed physically, I'm worried about his arm falling off. Can conditioning prevent that? (Serious question)

Arrieta has given up 4 earned runs in his last 75 innings.

He's not laboring. Like, at all. You don't simply take a pitcher out because he hits a certain number; I trust the manager and coaches to know what to look for. If he's fine, then let him get his 20th win with a baller complete game shutout in only 120 pitches.

And Mark Prior had perfect mechanics. This decision was [expletive].

Remember almost exactly seven years ago when we came back from 4-0 bases empty with two outs in the ninth against Milwaukee

the stronger your body is, the less taxation it has on your arm. It's not a total ultimatum, but it's certainly a factor. When your body (especially legs) get tired you rely more on your arm itself.

Yeah that's the thing, I trust the coaching staff knows what they are doing but I think the fan base is still shell shocked from Prior, so when the best pitcher since Prior comes along everyone is going to be irrationally sensitive to high pitch counts
