I was just thinking...with Schwarber coming back and Castro hitting again, along with Javy, does Soler even have a place in the everyday lineup when he comes back?

This season? If he even comes back, no. What did he show that would merit finding a way to fit a light-hitting, defensively terrible outfielder into such an awesome lineup?

the fact that he's probably a better hitter than castro even now

Soler needs to take the rest of the season off and heal completely. Then he needs to attend dong school over the winter. It's his only hope.

Come on, drop the bit. Soler's catastrophically bad defense negates what little he's likely to offer with the bat coming rusty off of the DL. There's zero reason for the Cubs to make way for him with the roll they're on.

Yeah I think you platoon Coghlan and Jackson, tell Soler to be ready for Choate and Siegrist later in the games against the Cardinals.

Bigger picture...I want Starlin and Javy playing every day the rest of the year. Both of them should have plenty of energy yet, and if we can hit on even one of them being hot rolling into October, we get really scary on both sides of the diamond.

the alignment that gets castro in with those other guys is one that puts kris bryant (who has graded out as a plus 3B) in the OF, so it pretty much comes down to who is a better hitter

i'm pretty much done with castro and it's gonna take a lot more than a decent 70-80AB over the past month to get me to back off that after what he has shown since 2013. it also doesn't help that he's constantly doing stupid crap in the field. i'm not sure why you find that so disagreeable.

that said, i'm VERY happy about that dong. [expletive] YES STARLIN

isn't this post awesome^^
