The Astros fell out of the wild card lead tonight, and they are tied with the Twins in the loss column too.

The rebuildi already peaked, and now the fall begins. That's how far ahead of schedule they are.

Well done.

How are the Angels winning? They don't hit well, and aren't especially great at pitching. They have a negative run differential, and somehow are ahead of the Astros who have a +92 run differential.

Baseball is weird.

The AL is just kinda sucky, so the least sucky of the sucks have had some luck/performed above where they should have by playing really bad teams. That's my take at least.

I don't really know a lot about SRS, but it only has 3 AL teams as below average. AL leads interleague 163-130. I think that's a tough sell. The bottom of the NL is just so terrible. Top of my head, I'd take any AL team over the Phillies, Rockies, Marlins, and Braves. And would put the Reds and Brewers as coin flips.

The AL Central blows and Minnesota is barely over .500 with 7 more runs scored than allowed. Successful? Maybe a little bit. But 84/85 wins is not impressive and that's where they are heading.

Cervelli just launched a grand slam off Wacha in Game 1. 5-1 Bucs

Wanted someone to sweep this series one way or another (PIT to push STL or STL to help us catch PIT). Gonna be annoying if neither team does.

Mike Matheny is a dumpster fire of a manager.

what'd he do?

IBB'd Alvarez the batter before, but I don't know if that's what he's talking about.

what'd he do?

sac bunting with a position player in the top of the 4th, then intentionally walking Pedro Alvarez to load the bases for Cervelli in the bottom of the 4th with 1 out when Wacha is having issues throwing strikes

This isn't a knee jerk reactionary thing. He's always been garbage.

oh, i know...that's kinda why i was surprised at how much blowback people who criticize him at GRB get.

Wacha has certainly not had a great second half, huh. 3.47 ERA with a 4.57 FIP heading into today's disaster where he already has 6 ER to add on. His BB/9 nearly doubled from 2.01 to 3.86 (4 BB today). HR/9 rose from 0.59 to 1.29 (2 today).

Not great!

yes. i know it barely matters who we play but i am drooling at the prospect of facing them in the NLDS.

It's eerie how confident I am that we would brain them into oblivion if we get there.
