So things in play on the last day of the season. I think this is right.

AL:

Last WC spot:

-Houston clinches at least WC with a win or Los Angeles loss

-WC tiebreaker with Los Angeles win and Houston loss

-Texas is WC2 with loss, Houston win, Yankees win and loss to Houston in divisional tiebreaker

WC1:

-Houston can clinch WC1 with win and Yankees loss (and no division title)

-Yankees can clinch WC1 with win

-Texas is WC1 with loss, Houston win, Yankees loss and loss in divisional tiebreaker

AL West:

-Texas wins AL West with a win or Houston loss

-Houston forces AL West tiebreaker with win and Texas loss

#1 seed:

-Kansas City clinches #1 seed with a win

-Toronto clinches #1 seed with win and Kansas City loss

NL:

WC1:

-Pittsburgh clinches WC1 with a win or Chicago loss

-Chicago clinches WC1 with a win and Pittsburgh loss

Am I missing anything/getting anything wrong?

Here's a nice illustrated version of the AL West/Wild Card situation:

Lost in the crazy Angels comeback is that it came against the Rangers' closer, Shawn Tolleson, who was working his FIFTH consecutive day/game.

Note that the Rangers had a 4 run lead to start the inning.

From the Matt Holliday school of sliding into second:

Of course, there won't be any national outrage like the Coghlan slide because Giavotella didn't get hurt on the play.

I know that the Cards aren't playing for anything, but looks like Lackey wasn't very impressive for them today. Their starting pitching sure is a lot less scary than they once were.

Angels up 2-0 already. An Angels win guarantees baseball tomorrow.

Whereas a Rangers win guarantees no baseball tomorrow.

Buehrle just gave up 6 and can't make it out of the 1st.

Lllllllooooooooooooollllllllll

HAHAHA. Way to blow any shot at the #1 seed by trying to chase a meaningless statistical accomplishment.

Kershaw gets to 300K's. First since 2002.

The A's finish the year without getting rained out or even being in a rain delay.

I know he's retiring, but I don't understand why he won't play in the playoffs.

Happ still looking strong. That damn throw out from the outfield in Game 1 of the series by Polanco is just huge right now. The Reds should have won that game.

after looking sort of competent the first two games, reds look like the team we played again

Disappointing day so far....Angels/Rangers are 6 outs from ensuring no tiebreaking games tomorrow, Pirates/Reds are 9 outs from ensuring Cubs don't get HFA, Astros are losing, if that and the Yankees game holds, no Houston catching NYY for HFA in the WC game, Buehrle going out with a bang quickly killed any shot of the Royals/Blue Jays games being interesting.

Sweet now Jay Bruce was removed from the game, making the Reds even weaker.

Jay Bruce is a replacement level player this year.

[expletive] off, Cincinnati. You should have won Friday.
