I know people often seem annoyed by Hairyducked, but what's his track record? Is he right most of the time? Like what was his take on Rizzo a few years ago?

 

Just wondering. He seems like his opinions are backed by research he does, which I respect. I'll say I don't agree with his criticism of Theo and I'm more willing to say that guys can improve when they are only 23 and don't have to start declining when they are 24.

 

it's not about him being right or wrong. he's obviously not dumb.

 

he's just a high volume contrarian troll and that gets annoying. and he does it on every remotely related cubs corner of the internet.

Anyway, I'm impressed with how much people here know about each other. Like Idiot is called by his real name id assume and I think Sofa is called mojo. Where the [expletive] does this all come from?

Yeah, for some reason I must not have been paying attention or was in the wrong threads. I just found out recently that Mojo is a FED and it sounded like everyone knew for years.

 

Am I right that Sofa used to be Nuts and Gumm? Nuts was my favorite poster.

Yeah, I think so. There are a number of factors that would suggest it:

 

1. Fowler had a an awful first half, and he actually did have bad luck on called strikes out of the zone that hurt him.

2. Coghlan had some bad BABIP luck early on that was dragging him down.

3. We have played a much easier schedule in the second half (which actually might mean this is a little fluky). But, when we in our really poor stretch offensively, we faced a bunch of tough pitching.

4. The wind basically was never blowing out in the first half -- which might help explain our amazing starting pitching cooling off lately.

5. Most importantly, we basically swapped Castro and Schwarber. And while that might bite us on defense, it makes our offense so much better.

 

Regardless, this offense is pretty scary right now. Just look at those OBPs at the top of the order. :shock:

i posted much less (didn't have a desk job yet) and people always confused me with davearm

 

i got absolutely destroyed in the poster contest by raw...after an upset victory over xzero iirc

Since it was only two months ago I remember vividly saying the Cubs' offense is what it is for this year. But then Schwarber came up and they moved Coghs to second while benching a below replacement player.....and they started hitting like crazy.

 

So happy to be wrong right now and hope to continue to be.

Hmm...among guys with 150PA or more, Soler is 33rd in avg FB/LD velocity, and 19th in GB velocity. and, again, 15th overall.

 

I'm not really sure what to make of that but I'm sure it's got something to do with something.
