Rondon back where he belongs.

Yeah, now the Cubs can blow games in the 8th instead of the 9th. I'd rather use Rondon in the highest leverage spots. Several guys should be able to handle the bottom of the order with a 2-3 run lead.

RD of -3 for the series and we win the series. Not ideal but they all count the same.

Now hopefully the Brewers unload some people and we beat up on them this weekend before the PIT/SF stretch that will go a long way towards determining our season.

To be fair, today's 9th was the high-leverage spot with Reyes, Arenado and Gonzalez with a 1 run lead. I agree with your hypothesis, though. Still should be someone better than Motte in the 9th.

Depends on the context, but yea I agree with all of this 100%

Yeah, I would have been pissed if anyone else pitched the 9th today. But Motte should be good to close out most games. Like the 3-run lead he had 2 days ago. And actually, if you look at the roster, do you really feel more comfortable with Strop (better pitcher but has a few high profile blow ups), Russell, Soriano, or Grimm than you do with Motte, if Rondon is in the highest leverage role?

Bryant hitting .189 over the last 30 days. Starlin Castro thinks Kris is in a slump.

Starlin wishes he could have Bryant's .687 OPS over the last 30 days.

Edit: God I hate the new run scoring environment in baseball where I think "well he nearly has a .700 OPS so he's not in that bad of a slump I guess".

Yeah, but a .700 OPS over a "slump" period isn't that bad even in a good offensive environment. Especially for a guy in his first year.
