I love this whole "would prefer Starlin Castro" over Javier Baez. Well yeah of course, I would much rather give someone a bunch of coal than a bag of diamonds, as well.

If Javier Baez is a bag of diamonds, what's in Kris Bryant's bag?

From CCO:

According to Jim Bowden, the Cubs are talking to the Padres about a deal that would include RHP Tyson Ross and RHP Craig Kimbrel. The Cubs would send a package of players that would include Starlin Castro and Carl Edwards Jr. The Padres would prefer Javier Baez to be in the deal. The Cubs do not want to trade Baez and would rather Castro be included.

Do other teams still look at Edwards as a top pitching prospect? That'd be pretty sweet if they do. Really interested to see the Cubs' lineup tonight..

Cashnering Edwards would be fantastic.

If Theo gets to keep Baez & Torres while jettisoning Castro's contract he's not gonna be able to hide his erection as he signs off on the deal.

This. Castro/Edwards for Kimbrel/Ross even if we have to take Gyorko's contract would be glorious.

If the basic framework was something like Castro, Edwards, McKinney and Underwood for Ross, Kimbrel and Venable I'd probably swallow hard and take the deal. But I have a suspicion the Padres could do better.

If we are willing to take Gyorko and his salary (who by the way has a .880 OPS against lefties this year and .785 and a .688 OPS overall on the road so we might be able to get some use out of him), I bet, we could cut Underwood out of the deal.

What is CCO?

If taking Jerko's contract means keeping Underwood sure, I'd do that. I'm not sure SD would.

What is CCO?

A others have said, Chicago Cubs Online.

It's just a site that takes all cubs news reports and puts them all in one place. Best thing they do is transcribe most radio interviews.

I'd be thrilled to see Castro and Edwards for Ross and Kimbrel, but we'd have to include more - probably much more. Maybe add McKinney and Underwood.

This.

I'd do that in a heartbeat. I get that they might be trying to hold off trading Baez, but I hope the front office isn't delaying this by caring about guys like Underwood.

They want Baez? Give us Upton or Kemp and he's theirs.

Who wouldn't jump at the opportunity to add a player who has a combined 2 WAR over the last 3 seasons and is making $86 million the next 4 seasons after this one? And all we have to do is trade one of our better trading chips? Wow, sign me up.

$32 million is the going rate for a a win right?

I read this at first as though you were making a funny reference to the infamous trade proposal. It would've been funnier if you would've had the Cubs trading Baez AND cash for Kemp.

Why? Seriously give one good, logical reason why Kemp is a wise acquisition. Just one that makes sense. And "he could use a change of scenery" isn't a logical reason, that's an excuse. What in the hell do you see in Kemp that makes you think he would be a wise acquisition for the Chicago Cubs?
