There should be zero incentive to overpay for Zobrist for us. At best, he would get a dash of time in the IF, with his main value in the OF. We're better off finding a cheaper option for the OF than to overpay for Zobrist. Still say Rayburn makes a ton of sense, but the price on him may be going too high as well.

If they send Castro to SD, he's likely the everyday 2B until they decide Baez is ready.

Eugene's Twitter account said it wasn't an injury. So who knows?

Would it be uncommon to pull a guy mid game for a promotion?

If it were for a big league promotion, perhaps. But Low A to A, doubtful.

Griggs tweets are protected so I can't verify that he tweeted that from his account directly

Are you suggesting that somebody would set up a fake Twitter account for an obscure Minor league pitcher to troll?

It's real. Spoilered for size.

and Baez is maybe a top-50 prospect right now?

It still amazes me that you think a 22 year old SS hitting .325/.399/.567 in the minors this year is "maybe a top-50 prospect" after being top 10 midseason last year and after all the recent prospects losing their eligibility.

In the same universe where likely left-fielder Joey Gallo is pretty much a consensus midseason top 5 prospect with a 44% K-rate in the majors and a 36% K-rate in AAA.

Like, I get if you personally evaluate him like that, but you honestly think the major publications would rank him between 35-50 after these promotions?

Olney and Bowden both mentioned the Cubs as a team in on the Price bidding now that DET has reportedly put him on the market.

Without an extension I can't imagine they're realistically in on Price.

We have the money next year and the relationship with Maddon. That would make my day.

I'd be perfectly fine with a McKinney/Zagunis/1 of PJ/CJ/Underwood for him knowing we should have money and his relationship with Maddon/Johnson.

That's a pretty huge assumption.

There's no doubt they have it. It's whether or not the powers that be want to spend it.

I'll admit I'm not that informed about the restrictions as a result of Zell selling the team, but I was under the impression that they couldn't approach 130-140M as a payroll until like 2018/2019 when the restrictions were removed.
