I'll actually venture in the game thread if we talk Indian food.

whyd they drop Varvaro already, he was good as recently as 2013. I'd rather just cut Jackson. Or Turner. Or Beeler. Why Varvaro?

If they didn't want him on the 25-man roster, they couldn't keep him on the 40-man roster.

Only a partial answer to your question.

Tonight is the night that Jon Lester is broken mentally and left in a heap on the mound. (I hope not)

i was posting about this in last night's game thread. i am really, really frightened that the cardinals are going to make a real effort to wreck his brain.

Since opening night, Lester has given up 4 steals of 2nd in 4 starts, and 2 of those were Billy Hamilton. There's a number of Cardinals fans convinced that Lester is liable to be treated like a little leaguer who can't throw over without balking, so if there were a day in particular where I'd be tickled to see Lester pick someone off, tonight would be it. That or just never give up baserunners, either works.

Bryant has a BABIP of .435 and Russell .436. That's a bit unnerving.

Have you seen how hard Russells been hitting the ball? I'm far from un nerved. Bryant however has had a few bloops...would really like to start seeing some dongs.

I really don't love the BABIP stat. People who watch the games can usually overrule that stat. Those 2 guys have been smoking the ball from what I've seen, that's part of the reason they have a high BABIP.

I've felt this way about Jon Jay. He commonly has a really high BABIP. I've seen most every game he has played, he has a high BAPIP because he hits the dang ball where he wants to a lot of the time.
