I canot wait until we run Jay out of town and we're adrift on the Sea of Lost QBs again. The Meatballs will be so delicious in their silence.

Meatballs don't get silenced. We'll get the next Orton and they'll think their point had been made.

Does anyone want to take odds on when Clausen gets benched?

I'm betting on injury.

Two good lines coming up...

Is it bad if I enjoy if it happens?

Is there anyone any good at QB who will even be available in the draft or free agency in 2016?

Good QBs are never available in free agency. In the 2016 draft (assuming Winston and Mariota come out this year), you have Christian Hackenberg from Penn St.(who was borderline terrible this year, but has upside comparable to Andrew Luck according to some) and Connor Cook from Michigan St. Both are probably better than Mariota and Winston if they stay another year and perform the way people think they should. Maybe the TCU QB has a shot with another big year, but I don't know about is ability to run an NFL style offense and make accurate reads/throws.

I like Brett Hundley too from UCLA but he's not a franchise QB and his stock has fallen so much this season.

Hundley is OK. But he's a reach at 9. And he's not a Day 1 starter.

FWIW, there is also Gunner Kiel and Everett Golson. The Auburn QB Johnson could really blow up next year too. Huge kid.

Could you get a first rounder in a trade with the Jets or Tennessee or Oakland for Cutler?

You might get a fourth.

Alex Smith got 2 2nds, including the 1st pick of the 2nd (I believe). I'd imagine you could maybe get a 2nd and 4th for Cutler if the team really likes him. Maybe a pair of 3rds or a swap of 2nds and a 3rd or something like that.

Alex Smith is a tough comparison because he was younger, with a relatively cheap contract (I think?) and was coming off a season where he had a 104 QBR (albeit was benched halfway through the year)

Does anyone in the NFL still think at age 32 they can harness Cutler's talent? Maybe? I guess all it takes is one team with a bad QB situation and a coach that needs to win now to gamble on Cutler.

Jared Goff at Cal.

I also fear Penn State's horrible OL and WRs are having a really detrimental effect on Hackenberg.

Also, goony nailed it. This is why you immediately fire a lame duck coach.

Yeah, his supporting cast was terrible. But I feel like he never really took control and made those around him better. Hundley, for example, at least seemed to make the most of a bad team surrounding him. Of course, he also had a good defense. But I felt like Hack never really got into a groove this season. Next year is huge for him.

He can win a SB right now in Arizona, and the perfect fit if they hadn't renewed an older, inferior Palmer.

Yep. There should never be rumors of an NFL coach getting fired at the end of the season, unless he is tenured and has earned the player's respect and right to finish out the year (Rex Ryan). The day you decide the coach isn't going to be there in the future, you get rid of him and let someone else do the job. I still can't believe Tucker is still here. How bad to you have to be? Worst defense ever last year. Basically asking to get fired 3 weeks in a row (bye, @GB, @NE).

Pete Prisco is sounding so dumb on twitter saying this is the dumbest move ever. I'm not saying it is or isn't but he's defending that by pointing out Cutlers TD passes and completion %.

With how many coaches deserved to be fired midseason they would have had to hire outside the org for interims

Could the bears just say they don't want cutler to play in meaningless games so they are seeing what they have in Claussen? I could see the bears spinning this so that it doesn't look like they are giving up on Cutler. Or obviously if they let Trestman and maybe Emery go they can say they didn't support benching him.

I think it would be a bad idea to just cut cutler after the season. Doesn't help us at all next season unless they are just going to punt it and go through a rebuilding year.

If they wanted to spin this, Trestman could've done it at his press conference since reports say he told Jay before that.

Wasn't Fales added to the active roster recently? What if the Bears made Jay completely inactive on Sunday? That'd be fun.

They should. What's the point of risking his health in the event you need a sub.

Who would've thought the guy who's hated on the Bears for years doesn't hate Cutler, color me a little surprised.

He basically slammed fans for wanting a game manager who doesn't take risks, which I can agree with.

Conclusion: There is genuine disbelief inside #Bears' locker room that Cutler got benched & Aaron Kromer only received slap on the wrist.

Welcome to the Trestman regime

The Detroit defensive line is going to kill the Bears QB anyway

It'll probably be check down city, boring-as-hell unimaginative Shoopville.

Clausen may survive but at the cost of a neutered offense. The perfect end to a terrible HC hire.

That's how I hope it goes down. Nobody gets hurt, but everybody understands how much of a failure Trestman is.
