I believe Emery still supports Cutler and will be keeping him after they jettison Trestman.

Emery knows he can't get rid of both Trestman and Cutler without losing his job too

Exactly. If he cuts Cutler and fires the coaching staff he's basically throwing away like $20-25m of the bears money next year and getting nothing in return. In addition there is a $15m hole in your salary cap next year making it hard to turn around quickly. You can suck at your job but if you cost the mccaskeys millions of dollars you might be getting fired.

i certainly hope he's trying to make a point by showing Chicago fans what a non-QB looks like compared to Cutler, because it won't be pretty.

We all thought the same when McCown took over last year

It was a fluke.

Clausen cannot go into next year as our starting QB can he?

Do you really want to know the answer to that?

He seriously might be the best option

Who are you signing in FA, drafting, or trading for that is going to be better than Clausen?

True, but Jeffery/Bennett/etc aren't catching everything within 10 ft of them and being double teamed like last year.

Nobody; I'm doing the smart thing and using Cutler. There's nobody to draft and the FA QB class sucks.

Just keep Cutler.

It kinda look like that may not happen

Is there anyone any good at QB who will even be available in the draft or free agency in 2016?

If a QB ever hits FA, it means he's not good. You're going to have to draft the franchise QB and we all know how hard that is.

Good QBs are never available in free agency. In the 2016 draft (assuming Winston and Mariota come out this year), you have Christian Hackenberg from Penn St.(who was borderline terrible this year, but has upside comparable to Andrew Luck according to some) and Connor Cook from Michigan St. Both are probably better than Mariota and Winston if they stay another year and perform the way people think they should. Maybe the TCU QB has a shot with another big year, but I don't know about is ability to run an NFL style offense and make accurate reads/throws.

I canot wait until we run Jay out of town and we're adrift on the Sea of Lost QBs again. The Meatballs will be so delicious in their silence.

Does anyone want to take odds on when Clausen gets benched?

Craig Krenzel is available, I hear. Maybe he'd be a great option.

I like Brett Hundley too from UCLA but he's not a franchise QB and his stock has fallen so much this season.
