Aaron Leming @AaronLemingNFL

Was told Mason Foster was targeting a deal close to $5M annually. Could see something close to 3 years/$15-16M. #Bears

Bears should trade Forte to Cowboys

I don't know if you're joking or not here, but I think I'm behind this idea.

What kind of return would you guys want?

3-4th rounder.

Draft Cooper and Gurley.

This seems pretty outlandish, even for him.

The talented @BradBiggs tells Cutler story with nuance, skirts calling out Pace for lying about trying to trade him. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-bears-ryan-pace-jay-cutler-20150311-story.html

Pace was "evaluating" Cutler right through free agency...to the point when no one else would take him he had to commit to him

yep, he's so eager for the Jimmy Claussen era to officially begin he could just puke. unfortunately, now he's stuck with a legitimate NFL quarterback that will likely improve his chances for success. Bummer for him.

[expletive] Bernstein is quickly losing me as a fan

he's gone full meatball on the Cutler story. can't support his personal feeling that Cutler should be gone with any facts.

Cutler's fine. If you want him gone, gotta bring in someone better. There are only backups left on the market. Not like you can find a career backup to come in with the same players on offense and lead the league in QB rating and throw one pick. That guy is gone.

Certainly not a horrible place to be, but I refuse to believe that if any halfway decent offer was put on the table, Cutler would have been traded

Edit: would NOT have been traded

They didn't have much choice, but I'm not exactly celebrating that we have a below-average quarterback and no prospects for improving at the position in the next few years.

Cutler will never be good, but don't sell him short - he's average, not below average

Maybe three years ago. Right now, he's not even that close to average.

Brad Biggs @BradBiggs

Lot of questions from folks: I'm not getting same vibe with LB Mason Foster and the #Bears as others. We'll see what shakes out.

Cutler just needed time to gel with the same players. Many people on this board said it would have happened right about the time Cutler got hurt and McCown took over in 2013. It was bound to happen! It still could.

No.

An anonymous head coach tells NBC Washington that "teams are afraid to sign" free agent DT Terrance Knighton because he's out of shape.

Knighton is meeting with the Redskins on Thursday, but has already been passed on by former coaches in Oakland and Chicago. He was expected to be a hot commodity as a run stuffer, and was at one point outrageously seeking $8 million per year. It's not exactly surprising that someone nicknamed "Pot Roast" is out of shape, but Knighton could cost himself all sorts of money by not hitting the open market in the shape he's expected to be in.

Never foresaw this happening with a guy nicknamed "Pot Roast"

Especially when you consider his nickname was pot roast.

Could have been helpful to have a decent coach, but I'm not sure there was much of a concern about gelling with players.

Totally couldn't see this coming with someone known as pot roast.

It would have been stupid to move on from Cutler. The Bears got pillaged for Marshall. Imagine how much worse it would have been even if someone expressed interest in Cutler?

The contract makes it impossible to go in any other direction, without hurting the team's chances even more. They got rid of Marshall (the biggest distraction). They brought in a new coaching staff. There will be a new playbook that will hopefully play to Cutler's strengths. If they can then create decent protection for Cutler and he then fails, all of the naysayers and everyone that wants so badly to be right that Cutler just plain sucks can say "I Told You So", and then you either pick up some pile of garbage off the scrap heap or finish the season with Clausen.

I get why some people are ready to move on. But, I honestly don't believe we have had a tougher qb or one that the organization has screwed over anymore than Cutler. Looking back at how badly his OLine has played for him over the years still overshadows his lack of care glare by extreme margins, IMO.

As far as Marshall, I'm sad to see him go. And I'm even more sad if it's true they gave up a 7th round pick along with Marshall, with what may amount to a draft pick that may never amount to anything. But, I'm trusting the new coaching staff believes this was best going forward.

any offer would have to be contingent with receiving an NFL starting caliber QB.

He is average, and lets see what this year's draft yields or for that matter next year.
