Why does everyone hate FSU? I'm not a fan, but I don't understand why they are hated more than Bama or Ohio St even. I understand hating Jameis, and I guess in turn hating the team, but they clearly deserved to be one of the 4 teams.

For me it was the getting away with rape, overall culture, overrated aspect of things. But you make a good point. FSU and OSU have much more in common than they don't.

You keep insisting on rape, and there's no evidence to support it. Are you hiding it somewhere?

And the culture? Jimbo has kicked many kids off the team or benched them for other issues. He's stuck by players who were later exonerated, yet the media gives him no credit for doing so, only crying about "the culture."

The ACC had a strong bowl season even with the FSU beat down. FSU beat Georgia tech and Clemson and those wins look really good right now. Louisville, ND, and Georgia tech each beat a top sec team. FSU will have beaten 3 of the top 15. Ultimately their schedule was far more difficult than TCU and they went through it undefeated.

People talk about FSUs scares but not TCU. Who (i) lost a game (ii) beat a bad OK by 4 (iii) bad WVU had ball at midfield winning with 2 mins left (iv) was somehow getting beat by kansas for 3 quarters.

TCU is a good team but had it's problems during the season. You can't justify them over FSU. Try would have probably been beaten soundly by Oregon also.

By advanced metrics FSU was barely a Top 10 team, not a playoff contender. I saw on the scroll yesterday that they're the first team ever to win 7 games by 6 points or less(those two numbers might need to be reversed, but you get the idea). They played a relatively weak schedule, although the ACC winning the Week 15 ACC/SEC challenge and getting GT in the conference title game helped. They have a number of players with run-ins with the law(and not exactly victimless crime here, rape, domestic abuse, hit and run, etc) that have gone underpunished by the team and local law enforcement(if they were punished at all). They are the most hateable team in a very long time, and watching them get buried by Oregon's engine of death and their own hilarious sequence of blunders was very cathartic.

Advanced metrics are fine. But that's not how the teams are picked. The way the teams are currently picked for the playoffs, FSU was clearly one of the 4 teams that deserved to be in.

I don't have a problem with FSU being in the playoff, I'm just answering your question. By virtue of a pretty crazy series of close wins against a middling schedule they were an undefeated power conference champion. They should have been one of the 4 teams even if on paper they're closer to 10 than 4.

And their indignant fans really made a show of ignoring any evidence that they were not good and are hateable.

On that point, I'll agree - the #FSUtwitter people can die in a fire

For all the reasons people gave for hating FSU, shouldn't Alabama be more liked. Their players play hard, they are much better sports than most of the rest of the SEC. They don't seem to have many off the field issues since Saban has taken over.

No one likes teams that win a lot, so it's a matter of choosing the least objectionable in instances like this. Saban wins more than anyone and gets some scorn for his recruiting methods, so there's hate to go around. Personally, I was hoping for Oregon/Bama with Oregon winning, but Oregon/OSU with Oregon winning is up there for acceptable outcomes.

lol- He fucked a mostly unconscious drunk girl who had defensive wounds on her body. Those are the facts. I call it rape, you can call it whatever you like.

Bama's fanbase is what's loathsome, not the team itself. Under Saban, they have a very professional and clean team.

Yes, this is it. You can hate is his game, but it Saban is pretty good at what he does.

The thing I find the most creepy about Bama fans are how they all want to dress like Bear Bryant.

At this point you can make the best case that Bama clearly didn't belong in the top 4. Turn out the SEC west teams all suck.

We are fine as long as we're playing against the Big 12.

Yes, that's the (facetious, I think) point. The SEC West is 2-1 against the Big 12 and 0-4 against everyone else.

Did...you forget that OSU and Wisconsin are no longer in the Big 12?

As a newcomer to the SEC fans of other schools in this conference cannot comprehend that right now the SEC is not head and shoulders above every other conference. A friend of a friend who is an Alabama fan just claimed that Missouri won the SEC East the last two years only because moving to the SEC made them a much better team. I would have said it had more to do with everybody else in the division having down years at the same time and things (including the schedule) falling right for Missouri, but I guess SEC Missouri is like Big XII Missouri + some magical SEC power up.

Ooops. Read it totally backwards.

Except according to toxicology reports she wasn't drunk and had no other drugs in her system.

Take it from someone who has some experience in this area - when one of your team's players has been accused of some sort of sexual assault, it's best to just concede that regardless of how true the allegations may be, it's a really [expletive] situation and just move on rather than loudly defend the guy's honor.

Meanwhile, in actual bowl action, Pitt is putting on a clinic in how to blow a 31-6 lead in 10 minutes.

This was Oilers vs. Frank Reich bad. 31-6. I go to the bathroom when its 31-13. Then its 34-13 so I stopped paying much attention (I'm at work). Someone emailed me that Pitt was going to lose and I literally could not fathom it.

I flipped it on just in time for the first onside kick. Amazing.

I probably should, but it pisses me off that people want to ruin a 20 year old kid's life over something that didn't happen, all because of a racist father.

Few people in the media have picked up on the fact that maybe, just maybe, he didn't do it, and that we shouldn't rush to judge all situations. To add in the fact that he's blaming a coach who has a history of tossing people off the team (and questioning a schools integrity from top to bottom) is ridiculous.
