How does it work if you sign with say, Houston, and go "hell yeah, no state tax" and then are traded to San Francisco, where you're taxed out of your browntown? Just sucks to be you?

Bunch of tweets coming out that Lester will have final offers in front of him by tonight. Olney says reasonable to conclude it concludes tonight. Red Sox meeting with agents tonight.

At some point, it just becomes about trying to get as much money out of the team you want to go with as possible.

True or False:

As of this moment Jon Lester already knows who he is signing with.

True, he's been humming go-cubs-go for a month.

I would pay the tax and be happy to be the hell out of Houston.

yes. not only do you live in the concrete hellscape that is houston, but now california gets a huge chunk of your income for every day that you "work" there. i'm not sure how that particular part works, like if they divide yearly salary amongst the games played and tax based off of that?

Part of it depends on where your home is. Rosenthal just had a tweet about how since Lester lives in GA the tax argument only applies to a percentage of his income(up to 50% I believe), but when you're talking about this much AAV it's still a difference of millions.

True, and imo it's been true for awhile.

Anyone else's Twitter feed down almost completely? This happened to me once before and it was down for a day and a half. I'm receiving just a few sporadic tweets right now, nowhere near the amount I should be getting. The Levine comment I missed was about when it started.....

Same. On my app at least. I think you might be ok by just searching Lester though.
