Not really sure what to expect on a short week. Ponder had the best game of his career against the Packers a couple of years ago, so if Bridgewater's out, I'm sure they'll find a way to move the ball down the field.

The schedule sets itself up well for the Packers to make a little bit of a run here before the bye.

Pittsburgh by 6.5 over Jaxonville seems like easy money

They just lost to Tampa. At home. Nothing is easy money for a team capable of that.

In news that should surprise no one, LaRon Landry was suspended 4 games for PEDs today.

Cincinnati +2.5 is ridiculous.

I imagine that line will shift a bit after tonight.

The FCC ditched the blackout rule.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/30/fcc-unanimously-dumps-blackout-rule/

It doesn’t mean the blackout rule has died; the NFL and broadcast networks can agree to abide by its terms. Today’s decision means only that the NFL can’t insist on network blackouts via an FCC policy that previously gave the NFL the ability to pull the plug.

Since 1975, the NFL has blocked local broadcasts of games in which the home team failed to sell all non-premium tickets at least 72 hours before kickoff.

The next step could be to pursue federal legislation that would eliminate the broadcast antitrust exemption if the NFL doesn’t abandon the blackout practice altogether.

I never bet a road favorite of greater than 3 points in the NFL. Pittsburgh will likely win but lots of points to lay.

That's a 6pt teaser.

Hey, the Titans could look like a respectable NFL team this week. I don't think the Browns will be able to exploit our iffy pass defense like the Colts were able to do, but I'm not sure we'll come close to slowing down the Shanahan running game - especially adding Ben Tate to the two promising looking young backs in West and Crowell.

However, the Cleveland run defense isn't impressive and the Titans are finally realizing what most people do - that Shonn Greene isn't very good. Bishop Sankey is getting more carries each game and I think it'll be soon that he starts getting a majority of the carries consistently. If nothing else, that should limit the number of passes Locker needs to throw, which also increases our chances of winning. I'm liking more and more what I'm seeing scheme-wise and style-wise from Whisenhunt and his coaching staff, though, so once we move on from the Locker-Greene era I'm hoping we'll start some upward movement.

I think the Titans win, but it's likely to be a low-scoring and kinda ugly game.

So there's a rumor going around based on a report on ESPN's St Louis radio affiliate that there is a strong believe that Rams are going to announce their relocation to Los Angeles after the Super Bowl this year. No legit news sources reporting this yet but its something to keep an eye on.

All I can find is a Soundcloud recording of the discussion on ESPN STL and a reddit discussion:

I was listening to that show when they were talking about it yesterday. Karraker is a complete homer blow hard, but is likely pretty well connected to those who would have this knowledge, thought his was pretty much laid out as a speculative but I know something type deal. Based on some of the things I hear regularly around here, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it happened because there's been absolutely no movement on getting anything done stadium wise here.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sports/concussion-watch/76-of-79-deceased-nfl-players-found-to-have-brain-disease/

As the NFL nears an end to its long-running legal battle over concussions, new data from the nation’s largest brain bank focused on traumatic brain injury has found evidence of a degenerative brain disease in 76 of the 79 former players it’s examined.

The findings represent a more than twofold increase in the number of cases of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, that have been reported by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ brain repository in Bedford, Mass.

Researchers there have now examined the brain tissue of 128 football players who, before their deaths, played the game professionally, semi-professionally, in college or in high school. Of that sample, 101 players, or just under 80 percent, tested positive for CTE.

This issue hasn't gone away and I hope many decline the settlement and the judge allows such challenges. I want the NFL to be held accountable for the brutality of the sport. Settle it with cash and deny responsibility shouldn't be deemed as an acceptable plea bargain. They know admitting responsibility will eventually bankrupt the league from former players, especially with all the (never a past/recent history) cover-ups they have done regarding concussions. Of course, they would never claim a media source to be false or decline comments. Maybe Goodell could put some black shoe polish in his hair, host an event on Labor Day for the former players and call it a day.

It won't happen. No way a judge will allow this to happen. Main reason is because people CHOSE to play this sport and they knew the damage of playing this sport (maybe not CTE mind you, but they def were aware what kind of injuries they could have and how it'll affect them after they retire). Heck most of these players kept playing or even withdrew info from their coaches/trainers. Remember the Urlacher quote like 2 years ago where he would kept the info of being knocked out/concussed to himself and would keep playing. He's not the only player who said things like that and look at how people/players reacted about Cutler's injury in the NFC Championship. Not only that... lets say the players DO win the lawsuit against the NFL. What's going to stop other former players to sue their colleges/high schools for the exact same thing? Shouldn't college/high school/etc should be accountable as well? It can be just as brutal on those levels. You're just going to open a can of worms here.

I do want ex-players to get they need so they can get the care and help for CTE/whatever else they can't afford due to medical bills and I think it'll be settled out of court (it just depends on how much $$$).
