Even though I know he won't, it will be ridiculous if Goodell doesn't resign.

This is the story going forward on the news. The Ray Rice side of it is done for the season in a day or two. The focus will squarely be on the NFL then. I keep hearing mentions on twitter and the internet that the press hates Goodell and would be all too happy to go after him. If someone has evidence that he lied about seeing the tape earlier he has to be toast.

@BrodyLogan: Harvey Levin from @TMZ told @TonyPerkinsFOX5 they will release news tomorrow that the NFL knew about the Ray Rice video & turned a blind eye

Front page of ESPN.com, an article from Jason Whitlock. Well said.

However, the real story here is the reaction to Rice's crime by police, the prosecutor, Ray and Janay Rice, the Baltimore Ravens and Roger Goodell. You could easily argue that the reaction is as reprehensible as the original crime because the reaction fosters the crime.
The NFL's apparent willful ignorance about what happened inside the elevator is quite surprising. It's difficult to believe TMZ has better investigators than the multibillion-dollar NFL.

Goodell elected himself the league's top cop. Is he Barney Fife? Did he not talk to the police or hotel security personnel who saw the tape?

Good. [expletive] the NFL for doing this. It's disgusting that TMZ is doing a better job being journalists than all the bootlicks on NFL beats for national outlets.

Seriously. I can already see Goodell squirming.

It's surprising that the ESPN hasn't put a gag order on all of its writers and talking heads about this, since it's basically the unofficial NFL Network 365 days a year.

Note the tweet only says the NFL knew about the video, not that they actually viewed it. I think all he's saying is that the NFL knew the video existed, and if so, it's hardly earth shattering news, cause you know, it happened in a casino where there are cameras every square feet. But there's still no evidence they actually viewed the video.

So they are grossly negligent and willfully ignorant rather than being outright liars

Yes that's correct. I'm just saying not to get your hopes up that anything new will be released tomorrow that will make the league seem even more despicable.

It's almost unimaginable that Roger Goodell and the NFL league office had the Ray Rice elevator footage and still gave him only a 2 game suspension.

Why? It's exactly what I imagined it would be. I can't fathom how it changes anything.

huh?

The video is exactly what was described earlier. They knew what he did, even if you believe they didn't see the full video until now.

The police don't have to hand it over, right? But don't they usually do that kind of stuff?

The police don't have to, but the casino sure as hell would have if the NFL asked for it.

Or if the multibilliion dollar enterprise of the NFL would have paid more for it than TMZ.

I bet they wish they had at this point.

Yeah, TMZ is pretty much the wikileaks of the sports world right? They were the ones that brought down Donald Sterling, and now Ray Rice. You could argue they were responsible for the 2 biggest sports stories of the year.

Why would the casino be obligated to honor a request from the NFL?
