Who leaked the video? Why did it come out now?

Probably an employee or the casino sold it. This is a the perfect day for TMZ to publish the video. I'm sure they've had it for months.

my guess is a recently unemployed worker at the defunct Revel Casino.

"We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today," the league said in a statement released to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

So that's the league's story. Police refused to tell us the whole truth?

This is the same as Donald sterling. The league doesn't care unless there is a viral youtube clip. Both leagues were guilty of harboring a known wife beater/racist and didn't give a [expletive] until it was a viral video. How about the 49er who played yesterday despite the fact he beat his pregnant wife. How about all the other guys in the NFL who have beaten a woman? It doesn't really matter until their is video. Did anybody expect it to look any different? The fact she was unconscious shouldn't have even mattered.

The police don't have to hand it over, right? But don't they usually do that kind of stuff?

What was the result often criminal investigation by the police and wat was he charged with. I seem to remember LA county being man enough to force Chris Brown into 18 months of legal proceedings. Floyd Mayweather at least went to jail for a while. Why was rice just let off?

This was all a case of Jersey officials suppressing the video in an effort to woo NFL support for legalized sports gambling.

Goodell is such a smarmy piece of [expletive] i almost admire him. He's the perfect boogeyman for the NFL owners. He's paid 30mln a year by them to protect them and personally take all the criticism from the media and fans. He's worth every penny to jerry Jones and the other billionaire owners. He's like a giant piñata they set up to be the face of all the negativity.

I hope all of you got a chance to see Antonio Brown kick the kicker of the Browns in the face on one of his returns yesterday. He got penalized for it and he'll likely be fined, but my goodness, that was hilarious.

Here's a link in case you missed it:

no, I don't follow the NFL

Of course you don't. You spend every waking moment on NSBB. How could you possibly have time to watch NFL? My question was for everyone else.

The Rice video was strategically leaked, IMO, in order to press the Ravens into releasing him. There isn't any other logical reason to hold it back. Basically "they" (whoever that is) gave the NFL and the Ravens the chance to do the right thing, and when they didn't and Rice was on the verge of being reinstated, they dropped the bomb.

I don't get why he was penalized. The punter goes down to make the tackle and - instead of going around - Brown opted to jump over him and wound kicking him in the face. Was it obviously intentional and I missed it?

It was pretty obvious intent, not from the beginning, but once he went up there he took his shot.

I don't think it was originally planned that way, but I do think there was some intent there. This video gives a couple more angles:

Someone needs to take Mike Ditka and drive him to TV equivalent of the nice country farm with lots of room to run and play. His comments on Ray Rice are beyond ignorant and tone deaf.

His earning power is destroyed. That's an important thing.

Yeah he reaaaaaaaaaally needs to just retire already. Or just stop talking.

Even though I know he won't, it will be ridiculous if Goodell doesn't resign.

Nah, he'll double down on his "protect the shield" schtick instead
