Grandal is the guy I want from the Pads.

Is that the guy that made Rizzo expendable?

Grandal is a C. 1st rounder from a few years ago. Had a PED suspension and has never taken over for them full time. I think he was drafted by the Reds. Solid bat, good defensively.

Yonder Alonso

That's racist, Kyle. You think all Cubans are the same.

Oh, right, they're both Cuban. Kyle's making a joke, right?

Alonso and Grandal are obviously children of the faithless and sour

I can't give him the benefit of the doubt.

Rosenthal mentioned today the Cubs may add Lester or Scherzer this year, Lester being the likelier, and then adding either Price or Shark the following offseason. Sounds good to me.

Now if only the rest of the ML teams will cooperate, we'll have multiple WS winning seasons.

Cub money's just as good as Yankee, Red Sox, Dodger, and Angel money, and we've got a nice bundle saved up, as well as a very good future prognosis. Assuming the money's comparable, the Cubs are a very attractive destination to any FA.

I agree with everything you posted, but the key is assuming the money's comparable. All it takes is one crazy owner/GM to blow everybody out of the water.

Assuming the Cobs don't sign Tomas, what do you guys think about gambling on a bounce back (health wise) from Cuddyer with a short term contract?

I mentioned him at some point, but I definitely think he could be a fit. He's a really good hitter, when healthy which hasn't seemed often lately, and he should come cheap. Ideally he becomes a bench bat/spot starter by mid season. My offseason FA position player preferences go (assuming no trades);

1. Tomas

2. Markakis

3. Melky

4. Cuddyer

Melky's stock has skyrocketed in my book solely due to his apparently crippling fear of thunder:

What's a guy like Hammel going to go for? Pitched great for the cubs; not so great for oakland.

Signing Lester and Hammel could be nice . . . . .then maybe Melky.

It's awesome how we're only a move or two away from being a post season competitor.
