And you guys are saying it is because everybody is racist or just don't like Castro?

Chicago baseball writers are super-racist and they tell fans what to think.

So JD is now racist just like Brenly was?

Probably.

Although I still think Brenly just thought if he meatballed hard enough, Cubs fans would rise up and demand he be made our manager.

A few writers are dicks to Castro, but it's also dumb when people get themselves worked up every time a player who isn't Castro makes a mistakes and it doesn't get a lot of attention.

Yesterday after Rizzo admired his double for a second, that Sharma guy tweeted how it would have been a huge deal if Castro or Soriano or Aramis had done it. The next play, Castro admired his single and nobody said a word.

So now they're all racists *and* reverse racists. That's even worse.

The tiered playoff system is the best thing MLB has ever come up with.

You reward the best teams, but also give tons of other teams something to play for. There's probably 10 teams playing meaningful baseball right now that wouldn't be under the 8-team system, including the A's and Angels.

And not only that, but you get to open the playoffs with a pair of elimination games, which is awesome.

My third greatest creation.

Haven't been able to watch much of Baez the last 2 games. Is his approach terrible? Is he just getting behind in counts and not recovering, is he just going up there flailing?

Out of his six straight K's, three were chasing awful pitches, two were getting overwhelmed by stuff in the zone, one was being overly patient and looking at hittable strikes.

Thanks

I actually don't think many of them are racists and get more annoyed by everybody claiming they are racist. It's gotten blown out of proportion, just like the criticisms against Castro.

This is all because of the ESPN thing a few years ago, when admittedly Castro looked really bad. That has become a narrative now and every time he does something, it gets pointed out because of the "reputation" that he got based on that night. I think it's more that than a bunch of writers hating Castro because he isn't white.

Just my opinion.

This ongoing complaint pre-dates Castro's existence on the team.

Kaplan and his ilk were running guys out of town at a one-per-year rate there for awhile, and they mysteriously were all not white.

If Barry Rozner isn't racist, the only way to explain his position on Aramis Ramirez is that he's a complete [expletive] idiot, which is also very possible and not mutually exclusive.

Replay is glorious. Everything can be improved, but if it takes 4 minutes (and that's one of the worst case time scenarios) to create equilibrium, it's worth it.

If they're using replay with the idea they're only changing the call if there's 100% proof it's wrong, then they need to make that decision earlier. Like that Ruggiano play, you could tell after a few replays it wasn't going to show 100% either way. If they're looking at it for 5 minutes though, then make the call based on what replay LIKELY says (he was safe). Edited by Gilby

I don't hate it for any lack of tradition or anything like that. It just causes pointless 5 minute delays and half the time everybody's convinced the call was wrong even after the replay.

Then it just needs to be made better, not eliminated. Eliminating it is worse.

Everyone always says this but nobody has ever come up with a not-terrible implementation.

That was an exceptionally long review and it added four minutes to a three hr game. It's all good, brah.

Exactly. The games are already bloated with dead time. There's no point in adding anymore when you basically gain nothing because most calls are either moot to the outcome or inconclusive on replay or both.
