Why are the Cubs and Cardinals the only 2 NL Central teams with positive run differentials? Why do the Cubs lead the NL Central in runs scored? I am never going to ESPN's standings page again, that was scary.

It's like that episode of Sliders where they find the right Earth but OJ Simpson is on trial for double murder and Jerry's house's gate doesn't squeak, so they move on to the next one.

Take names, no one from today's game is allowed back. Sorry Brett and CubinNY, drastic measures were necessary.

you guys are weird

there was a kid on my team way the hell back in little league who emulated Jeter...it's pretty crazy to think about the kind of career he's had

When I was about 12 years old I was at a sporting goods store with my mom and bought a Yankees t-shirt that was on clearance for like $8. When I got home my dad expressed shame in me that I have never noticed before or since, and I never wore the shirt and have no idea what happened to it. I don't even think they were particularly good when I was a kid, they were just always the good bad guy team in movies and I liked it.

I feel the same sense of shame for all the douchebags clapping for him and probably justifying it by saying how he is the anti-Sosa.

If I were a Yankee fan, I'd probably spend a lot of time thinking about what kind of career he's had. But I'm not, so I don't.

Brett's probably cheering for him. He was the one raving about what a great experience the 100th anniversary game was, nevermind that it was a soul crushing loss

It's never OK to wish injury on a player, but I hope Derek Jeter ends his career in the bottom of the 8th by completely shredding both knees and having to be carried off the field.

Really, you want an even longer drawn out ovation for him?

It would have been nice if Aramis got even half the ovation that Jeter got. The same could be said for Soriano who returned to Chicago for the very first time since getting dealt in this series. Sadly no, they're going to cheer for Jeter who has never had anything to do with this team.

Castro, I love you.

These farewell tours are just weird, mainly because so far they've happened for varying degrees of really, really good players when it seems like the kind of thing you'd pull out for some kind of legendary, amazing, "holy [expletive], I can't believe I got to see HIM play"-type of player, which is to say it's the kind of thing that should happen for like 1 guy every 20-30 years.

It wasn't me. I was punching dudes an [expletive]. About half the crowd are Yankee fans.
