That's more what I expect, but I'll be disappointed by that, rightly or wrongly. And I seriously doubt that team is ever going to be the odds on favorite to win the east, once rosters are figured out.

Adding Love would be great. Gutting the team (Taj and Buckets) for him seems bad. We need to add offense to our vaunted D, not trade one for the other. Taj Jimmy and Noah were finally going to start games together. I want to see that. We could keep them, keep a draft pick and S&T Boozer and the other pick (for Afflalo?) to keep our exceptions. That allows us to bring over Mirotic, bring back Augustin and grab another scorer (Warren?) in the draft

Rose/D.J

Afflalo/Snell

Buckets/Dunleavy/Warren

Taj/Mirotic

Noah/Smith

That is better than the 2011 Playoff roster that was two baskets away from being up 3-2 on the Heat.

Yeah, that's about what I'm expecting. A pretty good team. If nobody else in the East does anything significant, that's Indiana level. Good enough to beat Miami if all goes right for us and wrong for them.

Gutting the team?

Well the D, anyhow. Noah can't do it alone. Thibs system requires everyone on a string. Not saying there aren't lots of guys who can do that, but Jimmy and Taj WILL do it, and Jimmy will do it for 48 minutes. They can also switch onto almost anyone and guard multiple positions in iso situations. Rose/Snell/Dunleavy/Love/Noah? Now we're trying to outscore everyone. And we have no bench.

Melo possesses the ball a lot in his offensive game, right? I really wonder how well he and Rose would fit together. Which one learns to play off the ball?

Personally, I like the idea of adding players that help space the floor. I think we have to build with the idea that Rose will be healthy. If he's not, we won't be good enough to get out of the east, anyway. So we might as well hope he's healthy and put the best pieces around him we can. Going after Afflalo fits that extremely well.

Adding Love would be ideal as he'd bring a big man from the middle and make it easier for Rose to drive. I just don't see it happening.

I don't think an offseason of adding Afflalo and Mirotic would be enough to make the Bulls favorites. But I think it would be enough to give us a chance with a healthy Rose.

I think they'd both have to play off the ball a little, but it's really clear Rose needs another guy who can create. If I had to guess Melo ends up dominating the ball more, especially in the half court.

You need more than just LeBron taking less to make that work.

if we hear that bosh and wade are opting out, that's bad news.

Agree. However, I think it would be to make a run at Lowry rather than Melo. I don't think everyone takes enough of a paycut to fit all 4 in. I can see them all taking smaller pay cuts to free up $10-$12M for Lowry. Or maybe Gortat.

But I never though the Big 3 would be formed, so who knows. Either way I'm praying Bosh and/or Wade don't opt out.

Melo can spot up and shoot. Both he and Rose's games are based on isolation/pick-n-roll. But they can easily work together. Rose is still a PG. He will have the ball and can distribute to Melo on the wing and in the post. It's just like the Heat when Wade was healthy. Basically Melo and DRose would take turns running the pick and roll with Taj/Noah to get a shot and/or create.

I'm pretty sure Bosh is going to opt out. Wade's the question mark. Does he give up less to accommodate or does he take the money knowing that he's never going to see a payday like this again?

If Wade and Bosh opt out ; they're planning on pay cuts to bring in extra talent

If Wade and Bosh opt in; Lebron is staying and just wants to max out his salary

If Bosh opts out and Wade opts in; Lebron is seriously looking at leaving and Bosh is keeping his options open knowing he can still get a lot of dough and doesn't want to be abandoned with a hobbled Wade. Wade will ride it out because he would actually take a significant pay cut and could try recruiting guys to Miami again if both guys actually left.

If I'm Wade, there's no scenario where I opt out. He's owed $40M, where's he getting that elsewhere in the market?

I think there's a real chance both Bosh and LBJ leave. No idea where they go though.

Where are the Clippers at on cap space? Can they make room for either one?

On Carmelo: I don't think there's any chance he leaves NY. He'll leverage for a max deal.

You think that extra year is that important to him? Because the money is nearly the same when you factor in NYs state income tax. I think if all he cared about was making the most money he would have played out his contact and cashed in next year.

Clippers would need to trade Deandre, Jared Dudley and Crawford I believe. Possibly their first round pick this year too, to clear the cap space.

Judging by my Facebook feed, the sentiment is similar amongst Laker fans. Pretty dumb, but ok.

I don't agree at all, but I get it. Beating LeBron and winning a championship with Melo and the boys would be so much more gratifying than winning one with LeBron on our team.

Again, I don't agree. At all. But I can understand the reasoning.

Ehhh I'll admit that I don't really want Lebron on the Bulls--not that it has a chance of happening. If that is meatball-ian, so be it. I recognize that he is the best player in the league by far, but I still don't really like him for various reasons. The Bulls team has a strong dislike for the heat as well. I like when teams don't like each other. It would be weird if he left to come to the Bulls. I thought it was lame when Ray Allen went from the Celtics to the Heat. I would feel a bit dirty considering how hard I rooted against the heat the past few years.

Also, I have seen 6 bulls titles in my life, I don't need another like I need it from the Cubs and Bears. And as much as I hate the heat, I would rather he stay.

Yes. I want to see a championship, but I want them to beat Lebron. I want to see this brand of basketball succeed. Getting a championship via Lebron would feel like sleeping with a hooker. A bald hooker.
