Not sure how much it's been discussed here, but Emery's comments about Melton and rehab make it seem like he's not very impressed with his commitment & progress on coming back from injury.

Based on that, I do think Wootton & Ratliff are much more likely to return, and bye bye Henry.

Keep Wootton, Ratliff, Williams

Cut Peppers

FA- Byrd, Tarrell Brown, Everson Griffen

Draft- Jernigan after a trade down to pick up extra 2nd, take Jeffcoat and Pryor in 2nd, with Khari Fortt in the 3rd. Use rest of picks on a CB, O-Line, WR, and TE

Love this! Instead of changing Pryor to Loston (who sucks), sign TJ Ward (over Byrd) at SS and Pryor for FS. I'd also take Pryor's teammate Marcus Smith over Jeffcoat, but I wouldn't complain about that offseason at all.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Loston either. I'd be cool with that offseason.

I've always assumed Melton played his last down for the Bears when he went down. He never really complained about getting the franchise tag, but players don't typically take kindly to losing money because he got hurt the same year his team tagged him instead of signing him long-term. Plus, the Bears had a QB to sign this offseason. Once he got injured, the safe assumption for me has been that he would get either a long-term deal or a 1-2 year "prove it" deal with another team for more than the Bears would be willing to offer.

Didn't know about Kasem Williams' injury:

Still bored at work today:

Another one:

R1 DT LOUIS NIX III NOTRE DAME

R2 DT TIMMY JERNIGAN FLORIDA STATE

R3 OLB ADRIAN HUBBARD ALABAMA

R4 S DION BAILEY USC

R5 CB KEITH MCGILL UTAH

R6 DE DEANDRE COLEMAN CALIFORNIA

R6 C RUSSELL BODINE NORTH CAROLINA

Definitely flawed rankings:

Their offense was great by Bear standards, but the bottom line is to win enough games and get into the playoffs. If you fall short of that, you didn’t accomplish your primary goal. You can’t win a championship unless you get into the playoffs. Stats are for baseball people. Football is measured in wins.

LOL I came up with this...

14- OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN

51- TE AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS WASHINGTON

82- DE JACKSON JEFFCOAT TEXAS

113- S DION BAILEY USC

144- RB DE’ANTHONY THOMAS OREGON

167- DE AARON LYNCH USF

175- C GABE IKARD OKLAHOMA

Too much offense for my liking. While a few defensive guys I wanted went right before me in the first 2 rounds, Greg Robinson and Seferian-Jenkins are just too good to pass up. Plus, you're right UK. Very flawed rankings.

I wonder if having better stats than the opposing team will improve this "win measurement" concept.

CJ would've been a hell of a baseball player. Seen him as a soph in HS hitting 89, him and Grundy were grwat at Johnsburg.

My draft:

Rd1 Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix - S - Alabama

-I honestly don't love 1st round safeties, but seems like it'd be a safe pick. Honestly though, I see him going one pick before us

Rd2 Timmy Jernigan - DT - Florida State

-One thing that will definitely help our safeties is continuing to upgrade the front 7

Rd3 Donte Montcrief - WR - Ole Miss

-Obviously WR isn't a need but this guy is in the Emery mold for WRs and could be a real good WR

Rd4 Anthony Johnson - DT - LSU

-Double up on DLine in the draft for sure. This is where the value seems like it starts to get wacky

Rd5 De'Anthony Thomas - RB/WR - Oregon

-Not an every down player, but in the return game and as a change of pace guy, is an intriguing prospect. I think his return abilities make him go by day two though.

Rd6 Aaron Lynch - DE - USF

-Once highly ranked, he still is an intriguing prospect and could be a piece to the pass rush puzzle

Rd6 Victor Hampton - CB - South Carolina

-Honestly don't really know much, but he was the highly rated on their big board and can't draft enough DBs.

Anyone recall that site we all used last year? You could do all those ridiculous trade downs and just acquire like 20 picks?

Tried to not take the obviously awesome trade down offers but I had to in Round 2 because I just hated the options at the time. I'd be okay with that draft, though.

Good lord, if we stayed put and wound up with one of Waly, Jernigan, or Hageman and one of Purifoy, Bailey, or Van Noy, I'm pretty happy.
