so Jay and his 90% passer rating this year isn't very good?

i don't think Trestman's offense is a great fit for Jay's talents, but he's certainly been a good Quarterback in the offense, and he's more than talented enough to win a super bowl. you don't have to be Tom Brady to win it, you just have to be Ben Roethlisberger or Joe Flacco.

in basically every advanced QB performance metric jay is mediocre compared to his peers. His passer rating this year is decent. Jay is ok he is not very good. Im not sure why you say Trestman's offense doesnt fit Jay either.

passer rating isn't a percentage (and jay's is 88.4... good for like 12th in the league)

Oh man, this is going to be great.

Jay Cutler is the best QB in Bears history, he is better than McCown, who has played extremely well over the past several weeks, and gives the Bears a better chance to win and sneak into the playoffs. McCown has been in the perfect situation to succeed, he prepares tirelessly and he can make short to semi - intermediate throws very accurately. But Jay is the franchise and he's been the franchise since got here, carrying the Bears offense as far as he has. Anything McCown has done he's learned how to do by watching Jay.

Everything about this post is uncontroversial and should be agreed upon by all of Bear Fandom except for the last sentence, IMO

Tomorrow has the potential to bring some major heat if Cutler fails miserably through the game or even worse in a decisive drive in the fourth quarter. Granted, I don't listen to the Chicago media, but I've heard nothing but second guessing of Trestman's decision by the national media and that would add some major fuel to the fire.

It's ignoring the truth, which is that Josh McCown is actually just an avatar for Cutler.

Odd that Cutler psychically transferring his essence into McCown's body somehow allows himself to play much better...

What if...

What if... its Jay Cutler's body, seemingly of nigh-perfect Quarterback physical talents, is actually letting him down, throwing those questionable passes and strange interceptions. What if Cutler never wanted to do those things at all? What a tragedy.

Thanks Mr Obvious, you are a life saver! :good:

I don't know, I heard the whole "the media is against this" meme on the radio today, but I remember seeing a ton of pieces after the decision was announced that were in favor of putting Cutler in. I have no idea the exact ratio, but it sure didn't seem like it was all questioning the decision.

Is it too much to ask for sort of a blowout today? The Browns have lost 4 straight and 7 of 8. They've given up 27 in each of the last 4. Not that the Browns are horrible, but this is a Bears team that should be making a run for the division right now and a Browns team that has had bad, demoralizing losses all year long.

This should be a good chance for the Bears to hold an opposing RB under 100 yards. The Browns don't run very much or very well, with an almost 2:1 pass/run ratio and just 84 ypg on the ground. If they can't stop the Browns run game, they're going to be in for a fight.

Jason Campbell starting should be fun. He's played pretty well. Getting rid of the ball quickly and not making many mistakes. The Bears really good a good game out of Peppers a couple weeks ago, when they had him stunting a lot to avoid Matt Kalil. I'd like to see them do the same and get him away from Joe Thomas. Obviously, Josh Gordon is a beast for them but Jordan Cameron will be the biggest matchup problem, IMO. He has 72 catches this year, 1 more than Gordon. And is a huge threat against a team whose LBs and safeties should be focusing on stopping the run first and foremost.

Jay needs to come out hot on offense. Get the Browns behind early, and they aren't going to be able to come back. I'm hoping for an easy one. 31-13 ish. But if it's close at the half, watch out.

Tom Jackson has been waiting all week to talk [expletive] about Jay.

Flacco was a stud in the 2012 playoffs. 117 QB rating with 11 TDs and no INTs. Roethlisberger had a playoff rating of 91.6 with 3 TDs and 1 INT in 2008. I think Jay could be Ben, but I don't think he is going to be able to touch Flacco's numbers. Jay needs a really good defense behind him to win in the playoffs and that isn't happening any time soon.

So you're saying that Cutler is incapable of having a run like Flacco?

The nonsense about the defense means nothing.

So windy with snow going against a decent defense. Not what you want to come back to if you are Cutler. Has anyone said how healthy Jay is compared to when is came back from the Detroit game?

You want Cutler in the wind, not a noodle - armed McCown

Agreed. Just saying weather sucks for him.

Not incapable, but highly improbable of having a Flacco like run in the playoffs. Ben had top 10 defenses when he won his Super Bowls. I don't think Jay can win without a top 10 defense.

This seems odd probably because we play here every other preseason but this is only the Bears second regular season game in Cleveland since 1992.

The company line is that he's 100%.
