Did somebody suggest trading Thibs could help us lose more? Did somebody suggest that a nucleus of Rose, Mirotic and a fairly high pick is championship calibre? Its not. That nucleus isnt good and what a leap of faith for a mystery player and a guy youve never seen play and that nobody has seen play in an nba game.

The team is potentially good enough to be the number #3 seed in east this year, and afford us a chance to play 1 or 2 playoff series; and this team by returning Rose, rostering Mirotic, and having FA money from the Boozer amnesty is likely to improve more than any other team in the NBA and immediately contend next year. You really want to dismantle all that for the chance to move up 10 picks in the draft? The NBA draft is obviously extremely hit or miss. And this franchise is pretty bad at getting high upside young players to contribute immediately.

Just curious, how can you type, when you don't know how to read? I ASKED if you consider moving Thibs in the offseason, if you can get legit value for a guy that may or may not be a great fit with Rosé. The "nucleus" mentioned would also include Jo and Taj, maybe Jimmy as well. I also laid out the fact we won't have the ability to go get a max player, which is what's very likely needed, in order to put us over the top. No one knows if Mirotic has All Star ability or not, but with the current state of the team, he NEEDS to, if we're to have championship aspirations. Having two fairly high picks, one of which could turn into a top 3, with some luck, would definitely mean more than winning one [expletive] playoff series and then getting our asses drug by the Heat or Pacers. What exactly was I dismantling, by the way? Learn to [expletive] read, then maybe you 'd post something that at least one person on the site could possibly agree with. [expletive].

As for the offseason, if Boozer is amnestied, it leaves us with 11 mill of space. Not enough to get a max guy

I'm hoping Carmelo opts out and realizes it's better to make less with the Bulls and win something than to toil in New York on average teams.

I have to imagine there would be several teams with 11M in cap space in better situations to win than the Bulls

Winner. We honestly don't have that much truly going for us right now. Not unless/until Rose shows he's back to his prior form. Why would an elite player come here without knowing what to expect out of Rose?

Yeah, what to expect of Rose really scares me.

At this point, you have to think Rose is going to be a #2 option instead of "the man", meaning to truly tank it for a #1 stud is probably entirely out of the question

Too many beers before that post.

I was trying to say that after two knee rehabs, one questions if Rose will ever be MVP level again. If you think the answer is "no", then you have to ask if he's your #1 scoring option moving forward. If you think he's now a #2, then the only way to add a #1 scorer is via the draft or free agency. The current team, while not great, is still too good to tank for a top 3 pick (without some lottery magic), so landing that #1 guy in the draft seems unlikely.

youre being a huge jerk dave. To get a 20% chance of picking in the top 3 we would need to probably go 12-35 the rest of the way in. We might be able to finish the rest of the year 15-32 and get a 10% chance at the top 3.

I think a 1/5 chance qualifies as "some luck". What do you suppose we do to this team, short of dismantling it, that would have it play 12-35 ball? If somebody can answer that I hope we tank.

Personally I get a lot of value getting to watch the games, going to games, seeing them win a playoff series and rooting for an underdog win against the pacers or heat in the playoffs; the odds of which are infinately greater than drafting in the top 3.

The point is we're better off by missing the playoffs. I get the fact we're not finishing bottom 3. Everyone does. I get the fact that the odds aren't great if we finish outside the playoffs and near the back of the lottery-to wind up with a top 3 pick. But it's a non-zero chance. Meanwhile, our chances of winning a title this year ARE zero. The team needs that non-zero shot at getting an elite talent more than it does a likely 1st and definitely 2nd round playoff exit.

More power to you, if you're able to watch this team in its current state, without throwing up. I apologize for the frustration, just truly disagree with the direction you prefer to happen.(playoffs this year, not anything past that)

My direction is snell kirk and all our picks for afflalo and a susprise DRose March return.

I know it was a long time ago, but do you remember the last Derrick Rose injury, and how that recovery went? There won't be a surprise return.

How about "surprise! I'm not coming back until 2016!!"

Well one was an ACL and other a miniscus. I dont known what the recovery time should be. I tore my miniscus and had it repaired and could play after 3 months granted my surgery was athroscopic and i was a slightly less explosive athlete than D Rose.

Is Rose on a IR that precludes him from returning? If I were the Bulls and there was a 1% chance that derrick couldnt return, after last year's mess, than id say he was unequivically out for the year. I can still hope.

They already ruled him out for the year though.

Yeah but in his only public interview since the injury he said he wouldnt rule out playing in the playoffs if he's healthy and feeling good.

I highly doubt that he would make the effort now post-Deng trade.

Hes also walking and traveling.

Basically i agree its highly, highly unlikely he comes back this season. But ever since I read Dan Bernsteins hack article attacking Rose ive never wanted anything more than for him to come back as quickly as he can and play great.

Is there anything left for him to tear? Because that sounds like just about the worst idea I've ever heard

do injuries heal when you're in cryostasis? that would own, blow out your knee, get surgery, sit in cryo, pop out and you've missed a season or whatever, but you're the same age.

would be a great market inefficiency. "Hey barry bonds, 73 home runs, nice, but our projections show offense going on a steep decline in about 10 years, how bout we pop you in cryo until those home runs are worth even more?"

Sounds like he's ready to play in an NBA game!

Thanks. I didn't think anyone would make that joke now that Cuse isn't around.

Big baby just hit a 3 to probably take this to triple OT and started screaming "[expletive] you [expletive] all ya'll" repeatedly while gesturing to the home crowd. Very bizarre.
