Not sure if this was mentioned here...

Acta met with Epstein, general manager Jed Hoyer and assistant GM Randy Bush on Monday but indicated in an email he understands the Cubs are looking to talk to other candidates and that he didn’t have a second interview lined up.

Does that mean he doesn't have a second interview with the Cubs? Or that he doesn't have another interview with another club?

I assume the former, but the statement could be more clear.

It's the former. Doesn't mean that he won't though.

Lovullo or Martinez please.

Seeing Martinez next to Maddon last night swayed me . . .

Maddon can frustrate similar to LaRussa, he's an overmanager.

I still have no idea we saw so little of Joyce.

Are you serious, Clark? Including the postseason, Matt Joyce was 5 for 77 in September/October

Given the matchups and the strengths of Boston's pitchers, its a better matchup than Young or Rodriguez, regardless of a bad month.

(puts hand on bible)

If Ozzie Guillen is even given an single interview, I am done as a Cub fan. I can take the losing (provided there is reason for hope). I can take the near constant crap from non-Cub fans (and Cub fans). What I refuse to deal with is even the notion that Ozzie [expletive] Guillen could be the next manager of the Chicago Cubs. If that happens, I'm out.

I have no idea why you're even slightly worried about this (nor where you got the impression that he could be).

It's only slightly more likely than Jose Canseco getting an interview.

What possibly would make you think this is even a remote possibility?

Where is this coming from?

Ozzie publicly campaigned for it in an interview with Mooney.

There is an article on BN and Guillen was quoted by Mooney as openly campaigning for the role.

Canseco is also openly campaigning for the role.

And in Mooney's same article he wrote that he has a 0% chance of getting the job.

And he went 0-8 with 4 Ks. But by all means, use him more!

Joyce went 0 for 8 with 4 Ks in the Boston series.

He struggled as did the entire lineup, I can understand the logic behind benching him, I didn't agree with it but I still dont understand some of his moves with the starting Hellickson and the overall bullpen management. With that said, hes the best manager by a mile.

What's worse than Ozzie Guillen as manager? Guillen as manager and Harrelson as play-by-play announcer.

What the WHAT?

Several commenters last night indicated that Bruce Levine said on Sports Talk Live with Dave Kaplan that he hears Greg Maddux wants the Cubs’ managerial gig, with Mike Maddux as pitching coach, Bobby Cox as bench coach, and Henry Blanco as bullpen coach. I was not watching last night, and I cannot find any repackaged video of that particular moment, so I can’t personally vouch for what Levine said. He has previously indicated that Maddux could be interested in the job, however, so it’s plausible. Anyone have a transcript or a video to review? Either way, that precise setup coming into play seems unlikely.

So, those are the only conditions under which Greg wants the job?

wtf, Bobby Cox is going to unretire to be a bench coach?

Basically, it's Levine making [expletive] up.

And for the life of me, I can not figure out why so many people are so convinced that Greg Maddux would be a great manager.
