Aramis is apparently retiring after this season. An all-time favorite for me.

Personal hero.

If he stays on the Brewers, his last game will be in Milwaukee vs. the Cubs on Sunday 10/4 with the outside chance that one or both teams would need the game for the playoffs. That would be cool.

I'm sure plenty of meatballs would boo. No hustle, no passion.

His walkoff against Milwaukee is one of my favorite Cubs related moments ever and I only got to see it on like a gamecast type thing on a non-smart phone because I was on vacation.

That one, the White Sox walkoff, and the NLCS grand slam are the first things that come to mind.

Yep, love that Milwaukee walk-off. That and the NLCS are the 2 moments I'll remember more than any of Aramis' moments. Epic bat flips too.

That was awesome too. Was that the game Hamels was shutting us down all night and then we came back against the pen?

Yeah Aramis was the best. I was sad to see him leave, especially to a division rival, but I understood it had to be done.

He will always be one of my favorites...I sucks that its fairly unlikely he will hit 400 HRs for his career (31 short).

Probably my favorite moment of the whole season, just because the team had so conditioned me to think they were going to erase any deficit that I almost assumed Aramis was going to hit a slam in that AB. And then he did.

Castro will enter that modern top 30 this year. Ideally Rizzo does as well

Rizzo is at 9.1 with the Cubs. He's pretty likely.

My favorite Cub of recent vintage

I have gotten two authentic Cubs jerseys in my lifetime. Sammy Sosa when I was in high school, and Aramis Ramirez when I was in college. I still wear the Aramis jersey on big Cubs games, few and far between that they have been over the last few years.

If Arrieta wasn't a mirage he should be there next season. Also Bryant should hit that list pretty early. Like May or something.

Holy crap look at all those most recent modern guys who started their careers elsewhere. I'm pretty sure Grace is the only post-70s guy on that list who was drafted/signed/developed with the Cubs. Sandberg, Sosa, Dawson, Soriano, Durham, Lee, Ramirez, all acquired.

After Castro, who will be the next one? Soler?

I was about to say Jody Davis, but he was drafted by the Mets

Clark, executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, will monitor how the Cubs and other teams handle the promotion of prospects such as Bryant in regards to potentially delaying their service time clock and stunting their eligibility for arbitration and free agency.

“I will tell you this," Clark said Friday after the MLBPA held its annual meeting with the Cubs' players. "I will always pay attention during the course of the year as guys come up, go down, different considerations that may be a part of those decisions – we always pay attention to those things. This year is a little different than in years past here as it’s a remarkably talented group in that locker room. There's a very good group of veterans, a very good group of young talented players and selfishly I’m interested to see how everything falls into place.

"But as it relates to when someone may come up, when they may not, those are all things we pay very close attention to and as the year goes along, we’ll see where we end up."

With Kris being from San Diego, there’s a special place in my heart with him," the 6-foot-7 Clark said. "I will tell you that I didn’t realize he was as big as he is. ... I’m excited for him, personally because of the San Diego tie. But I’m excited for the young group they have in general. It’s an excited time right mow to see what’s going on with Chicago baseball.

"I’m only suggesting that we’ll continue to pay attention."

Clark selected his words carefully when asked whether service time will be discussed in the next round of bargaining talks as the CBA is scheduled to expire after the 2016 season.

"I will tell you this – we have always and will continue to believe that it’s in everyone’s best interest to have the best players playing at any particular time," Clark said. "And any rules that are in place that some may be using against the spirit of how they may have been designed, we don’t believe is in anyone’s best interests - the fans or anyone who loves our games, the fans themselves, or even the clubs for that matter.

"I don’t mean to sound like a broken record. We will continue, as we always have, to monitor those types of scenarios and situations in the hopes that everyone does what’s best for the game.’’

Don't think it amounts to much and wouldn't really expect him to say anything else, but yeah.

If they still had Valbuena, I'd say they'd have a pretty easy built in excuse that they want him to get a few weeks in the outfield at AAA or something. They can still say that, but it's just not as easy to make the case. Also could probably say that they don't want to introduce him to the most difficult level he's seen in his life in some of the most difficult (April) conditions of the year.
