I often have wondered if Illinois fans were really that whiny or was it just something I noticed more with them more because I live close to Champaign. Outside of Michigan I have never lived anywhere else long enough to get a feel for the fan base. I assume every fan base has its whiny element of course, but it really does seem ingrained in a lot Illinois fans.

Well, you try being illinois fan, drangus.

Jesus, Nebraska might actually have a decent shot of making the tournament...

14-10, 6-6 now.

Remaining schedule:

vs. Penn State

vs. Purdue

at Illinois

vs. Northwestern

at Indiana

vs. Wisconsin

They could go 4-2 or 5-1 in that stretch. 4-2 puts them at 18-12 (10-8) with wins over Ohio State, Minnesota, @ Michigan State and potentially vs. Wisconsin, and 7 of their 10 losses being against teams with top 15 RPIs. Their RPI would be in the 40's and SOS in the low 20's. It's possible that with that resume, a single BTT win gets them in. If they go 5-1, they might not even need a tourney win. If they go 5-1 with a win over Wisconsin they definitely won't.

They definitely have a shot now. But RPIforecast.com has their expected RPI at 58 if they finish 18-12. At 19-11 they have it at 46.

It figures that when Iowa is nationally relevant, Illinois, Indiana and Purdue are all bad so the college basketball talk on here is a fraction of what it used to be.

Jeez. How much more fawning over Iowa do you expect from this IU fan?

Don't worry I wouldn't care about Iowa if we were good either

Although on a plus side, Penn State is bad (as usual) so we don't have to hear from that crowd.

scott drew just painted his masterpiece

I know you can't really blame it on Drew, but that inbounds play at the end of regulation was full of lulz.

Also:

If Marcus Smart still makes 1st team Big 12 after everything that's happened this season, I'll be pissed. Especially when there are other very deserving players at his position like Kane, Staten, and that Fr from Texas.

Also:

Please beat Texas tonight.

just amazing. if you divide to court into 1,000 little squares, the Baylor inbounder threw it to the worst possible square he could. couldn't have put it on more of a platter. beautiful.

no way he makes first team, right? he missed three games. you could easily fill the first team with four guys from isu and kansas alone.

i'm going! not feeling good about it.

Indiana-Iowa postponed due to metal falling from the ceiling of Assembly Hall and damaging seats.

A buddy just sent me a link with a picture. That would've killed whoever was sitting in that seat, no doubt. yikes!

You should...ISU by multiple possessions.

Texas is very big. ISU needs to be hot from outside, imo.

What's that Nirvana lyric?

But with respect, everybody gets to see the games, the Illini simply don't get calls. They aren't a good team but they aren't a last place team.

someone posted a study on one of the Illinois boards. It was done on the referees and showed that out of all of the big ten teams Illinois had by farther worst home court advantage in regards to fouls being called. In fact they had basically no advantage. It was as interesting a read as I have had in a long time. I'd look it up, but I just have a hard time giving a crap anymore. It's been almost a decade since we were good. :banghead:

Havent they been renovating it?

Not that I'm aware of, not yet anyways. They got the $40 million donation for renovations recently but that work probably isn't starting until after the season. Maybe Fred Glass should ask for some extra money to replace the roof. 8-)

This is such [expletive]. They could have either played the game tomorrow night in Indianapolis (Iowa was in favor of) or played it with a section roped off like they are for the women's game. But the A.D. didn't want to inconvenience season ticket holders and make that adjustment on 24 hours.

Looks like the only real options are next Thursday or the Monday after the regular season ends. That would mean Iowa would play at Minnesota on Tuesday, at Indiana on Thursday and then back home for Saturday.

At least we'd get to watch 3 games in 6 days. It is a bit annoying to face the inconvenience and probable disadvantage because another team's arena falls apart though.

nice headlock embiid.

man did we ever deserve to lose that game. This KU team has second round exit written all over it.
