Yep, that one hurts a lot.

At home with both Dawson and Payne out, Iowa almost has to win that game, imo.

I overreact, a lot but I still don't feel safe about a tournament birth yet. I'm sure we'll still be a lock easily but a win tonight would have made me feel extremely comfortable. The conference title hopes just took a major, major hit though. Really though we had a shot.

I hate being an Iowa fan. How do you not have a field goal for over 13 minutes?

It was a little misleading though. When you go to the line 19 times in that stretch (and make 14) you're not going to make a lot of buckets. In total it ended up being 0-10 from the field with 3 turnovers. Still bad but...

That's dumb. It would take a total meltdown for this team to miss the tournament. Not gonna happen.

Just one [expletive] time ever it would be awesome to actually make the game winner. Once. Recker had the two in the BTT in '02 which ultimately led to a loss in the championship and NIT and Horner hit one late in like '03 at Indiana which led to an NIT. Supposedly Iowa is 0-32 in their last 32 chances to tie or win in the final 10 seconds.

Yeah, this Iowa team is still like a 6 seed at this point.

You guys are one of the best fifteen-twenty teams in the country; calm down, you're making the tournament. But, as a fan of your current team, it sucks watching them lose basically every close game.

i have the same (unfounded) paranoia about iowa st not making the tournament. i have an irrational fear of a baylor-esque run of losing literally every game.

ps baylor went into ames ranked #7 in the country. they have since lost 6 of 7 and are 1-6 in conference. and their next three games are @ ou, ku, @ osu. a 1-9 start to conference play is a real possibility.

Those are kind of my thoughts on Iowa, their schedule. Iowa's good so, yeah, my fear it most likely unfounded but I can't help but see a path to 8-10 (which is the record that could keep them out.) More or less, it boils down to I got burnt by not making it for so long and by Alford's teams choking. I've also hyped myself up to the point where I think this team can be more than just a tourney team (still could.) Ultimately, a couple more wins against good teams will make me rest easier (I'm sure we'll beat at least OSU at home and they still play Michigan and Wisconsin at home too.) The close losses to good teams are rough, tells me we're pretty good and once again (just like last year) our record doesn't really reflect how good this team could be.

They aren't going to go 3-7 the rest of the Big Ten season. They have 4 games left against the ranked B1G teams, 3 of them at home. Even if they lose 3 of the 4 games, they would need to go 3-4 against Illinois (twice), @ Penn State, @ IU, @ minnesota, vs. Purdue, vs. Illinois to finish .500 in the Big Ten.

Anyways that won't happen. They will go at least 2-2 against the ranked teams, will win their other home games and win at least 2 of their 4 road games. That should put them at 7-3 the rest of the year, finishing 12-6 and 23-8 overall.

Dude. 8-10? They're 5-3 now. They have 5 home games left vs. OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois. They're going at least 3-2 in those 5. There's 8 right there. The road games are Illinois, PSU, Indiana, Minnesota, MSU. I think they get at least 2 of those. 10-8 is the floor, I still put them at 12-6.

@rodger_sherman: Aaron Craft does things that don't show up on the stat sheet, like get his ankles broken while the other guy hits a game-winning jumper.

I mean, there's like a 5-10% chance we're 8-10. And I know logically that we're really good but I'm a little emotional and crazy when it comes to Iowa sports.

That OSU loss was worse than any Illini loss to PSU. This PSU team is terri-bad, and there isn't even the excuse of an unconscious Talor Battle chucking from the midcourt line
