All 3 Illini bigs with 2 fouls each already, Groce had enough on the last one and got T'd up.

Illinois hasn't been able to shoot, rebound, or draw fouls, and were still somehow leading.

Tied at the half, Indiana shooting 50% from 3 and outrebounding Illinois, Illini staying in it with steals and easy buckets.

On the flip side, IU with 13 turnovers and somehow tied.

IU won't keep shooting like that, they will need to limit the turnovers.

Good game. IU is just too careless with the ball, that will continue to hurt them in close games. Despite that, Ferrell has turned himself into an offensive threat, he should be a load the next couple of years at the PG spot. Feel pretty good about the effort, despite the careless play.

Illini play hard, was impressed with their play.

I'm going to be a homer and pick Iowa to win the conference. I'm not sold on Michigan State being great and I'm still in wait and see mode on Ohio State and Wisconsin. Iowa has flaws too but like I said, I'm being a homer.

Please don't lose to Nebraska at home now.

Didn't they end up with more turnovers then made field goals? I wish Crean would have used a timeout on the final possession of regulation. Gordon more or less dribbled out the clock to take an awkward shot. Also I didn't like the amount of time Vonleh was on the bench in the final 3 minutes of regulation in addition to the OT but...whatever. Overall IU did better than I expected. But it is still going to be a long Big Ten season methinks.

I've quit trying to understand Crean's substitution patterns or timeout usage. He does some weird stuff. I'm not down on the guy completely, he has been a great recruiter. The coaching aspect of his job can raise doubts at times. Overall though he is fine, I'm not ready to cut him loose like some of the fanatics who can't comprehend this year wasn't going to be like last year.

I don't say this in a critical way, but is there a reason that Iowa is projected so high that the slightly homerish POV can see them winning the conference? My (limited) understanding was that they would be improved and were a likely tournament team, and from a glance their performance to date looks to be about that, but not one of the top 4 teams in a really strong B1G. Is the drop off after MSU/OSU/Wiscy so severe that they win out for scheduling reasons or something? What am I missing?

They played pretty much every team tough in conference last year, basically letting a ton of games slipping away in the final two minutes (a majority, if not all of those games they led.)

This year they let wins slip away against what could be top-10 caliber teams. They can compete with anyone and if they learn to close they can beat anyone. Their depth and length causes a lot of problems to a lot of teams.

Is it just me or does Dakich seem really down on him? I feel like he criticizes him a lot during games.

Groce all about this TO. Laughed at the time, too.

I'm not sure to be honest, but I think part of it might just be Dakich intentionally criticizing IU/Crean in order to not come off as a huge homer.

Nanna Egwu 40 minutes. 2 rebounds. Vonleh kicked his butt. Rice is a stud tho, solid win.

Rice was very tough, quite impressed.

Every game that goes by I become less convinced that Vonleh will have a sophomore year in Bloomington.

Yeah he's pretty solid, I'd be surprised if he's back. Vonleh, I mean.

I think Dakich thinks some of his in games calls are stupid. He usually throws a fit when IU goes to zone (as he should because they suck at it). But he also tries extremely hard not to be an IU homer..especially late in the game.

And yeah, Vonleh is done. No reason for him to stay.

As good as Yogi was, he had 2 terrible turnovers trying to force passes to Perea, who should not be touching the ball late unless it's a tip in.

Those two passes were terrible but I felt like Noah should have been in the game at that point for both plays. Not excusing Yogi's bad decisions, just stating how frustrated I was that Noah wasn't on the court at that point. He left the court with his 4th foul just under the 4 minute mark and did not re-enter the game until 48 seconds left. That is too long to wait, imo.
