[expletive] nauseating that the Cards have another young stud starterand Oscar Taveres waiting in the wings.

And they have Wacha and Martinez and I think Rosenthal could end up a starter still but at the least be an elite late innings guy.

Wainwright retired the first 13 Rockies he faced today which, combined with the 27 straight Miller set down yesterday, tied the major league record of 40 straight batters retired by one team against another.

Wait til they start benefiting from their extra draft pick every year like the rest of our stupid division.

Our best might be for Dusty Baker to take over as their manager.

ryan dempster has thrown 123 pitches so far in 4 2/3 innings tonight. he's given up 6 hits and walked 7 batters. as far as i can remember, i've never seen a pitch count that high so early in a game.

Last time a pitcher had 120+ pitches and didn't last five innings was Livan Hernandez in 2010 against the Cubs (121 pitches in 4 1/3 innings). The last time a pitcher threw as many pitches as Dempster (127) in less than five innings was Victor Zambrano in 2004 (133 pitches, 4 2/3 innings).

Mike Trout/The Angels appear to be getting into a grove

that sounds lovely, but hasn't all the suburban sprawl paved over most of the groves in Orange County?

Forget it, Jake; it's Los Angeles of Anaheim.

Anyone see the double play controversy in the Seattle-Texas game?

Seattle had runners on first and second and hit a grounder to Mitch Moreland at first. He throws to Andrus covering second who tries to throw it back to Moreland at first. The throw is in time and Moreland is on the bag so the ump calls the runner out. The problem is that Moreland didn't catch the ball. Instead, it was pitcher Justin Grimm, standing about five feet from first base, who caught the ball.
