Ryan Zimmerman with three HRs in three at bats today and it's only the top of the fifth. He should get at least one more shot if not two.

Ballpark employees were cleaning the upper deck once the game had resumed.

Glad I just traded Cosart for him.

I cursed him, though. He's having a much harder time going through the lineup the second time.

I know it says other games but I thought we were sticking with big league games in here.

Wasn't Puig a hilarious Dodger mistake and not even that good of a prospect?

That was everyone's denial speaking at the time. That happens a lot lately.

He was completely out of shape for his workout, had some off-field questions (was suspended in Cuba a few times) and few teams had any info on him because he didn't play much in international competitions so the signing was panned. He's since gotten into shape and shown a lot of athleticism and power. He's a good prospect who is a notch below Soler (probably a top 40 or 50 prospect).

BA and Keith Law aren't Cubs fans.

Sure, he was panned by the peanut gallery seemingly due to the eye test of his appearance and a general lack of information, but the teams that DID have info seemed to really want him, the Cubs included. It's a broken record, but they need to get more of these guys with the way things are looking.

Oh come on, the reaction to Puig's bonus was universal derision, here, from the media, anywhere you can find. He wasn't thought to be in Soler's league as a prospect and got a bonus several times what was expected. It hasn't proved accurate, but painting it as some sort of coping mechanism or spurned lover instance isn't remotely true.

Just like the Cubs DID have info on Gerardo Concepcion? Teams threw out silly money that didn't match the profile, scouting reports or his workout because it was the last spending splurge before the new IFA restrictions.

He was seen once in-game, four years before he defected. He didn't show up for his first workout and when he finally did work out, he just did BP and threw. No team had some mythical extra info on him.

My point is I don't care what OUR reaction was; my let down is that it was yet another guy that our FO wanted and, quite frankly, it turns out the team really, really, really needs, and they didn't get him. If it makes you feel better that everyone hated the signing at the time, great. If it makes you feel better that they're not getting these guys and Concepcion sucks, great. I don't really have the masochistic drive to derive any satisfaction from that at all because the end result is the team still stinks and it prolongs "the plan."
