Billy Hamilton just stole second off Molina for the second night in a row and scored the tying run in the 13th in Cincinnati against the Cards. I hate Dusty so much, but I really don't care at this point if they screw over the Cards.

That game is now in the 15th tied 4-4

The failed suicide squeeze with two outs in the 15th was so, so, so very Dusty.

I don't think that's what that was. It looked like he just got caught wandering off the base and didn't expect the 3B to sneak up behind him. He didn't start running toward home until Molina made a throw down there.

Damn, 2-2 take from Chavez on close pitch, with two outs, then gets a hit. Craziest thing to me, is as shitty as Petit is, he's been into the 8th before with a no-no.

that's because FIP is limited and mistakenly assumes all pitchers will get hit equally hard

Jackson has a BABIP 38 pts higher than his team's average, while Cashner has a BABIP 23 pts lower than his team's average; i think you'd have a difficult time arguing that Jackson performed better this season

Cashner's been pretty solid in the 2nd half, too: 2.36 ERA & 3.37 xFIP

Has he changed something significant? His K and BB numbers are down pretty noticeably this year.

His HR rates are down by about 1/3-1/4 off his career averages. HR/9 is at .64 this year career he's at .84 and his HR/FB% is at 8.4% while for his career he's at 11.2%. So maybe a bit of luck/park effects?

Career averages isn't much to go on since he had 111 IP in MLB and only 6 GS prior to this year, but yes, he's got a decent split home and away. Most striking is the difference in 2B, 7 in 71 IP at home, 23 in 96 IP on the road.

...when did the Nats get 10 games over .500?

They had an 8 game winning streak in the last 2 weeks that did most of the work. Too bad it's probably too late for them to catch the Reds unless Cincy completely tanks or the Nats just stop losing at all.

Hopefully the Pirates can put a nail in the Reds coffin with 6 games left against them. That would serve an awesome dual purpose in knocking out the Reds and maybe pushing the Cards into a WC spot.

They've been beating up on crap teams for the past month.

3-1 vs. CHC

5-1 vs. Mia

5-2 vs. NYM

4-2 vs. Phi

They also went 2-1 against KC and beat Atlanta today.

If Cincy even goes 5-6, Washington would have to go 10-2 to tie them.
