I'd love to see them sign Moore. That takes a ton of pressure off the draft and makes us less likely to reach. Plus we might be able to afford to grab a QB project in the 5th or 6th.

@ChicagoBears: LM: Emery on Bushrod: "We're very fortunate to get a left tackle in free agency. To be able to get [bushrod] was a coup for the Bears."

Just a thought - if they draft a tackle like Fluker in the first round, could they trade Webb? Cut him?

I doubt he's tradeable, my guess is he'd become our swing tackle, which would be fine. He doesn't make enough money to where it'd make sense to cut him either.

Walters take on the Bushrod signing. I don't think he watches very many Bears games.

Bears sign OT Jermon Bushrod (5 years, $36M; $17.7M guaranteed): Z- Grade

I can't take this signing seriously, so I'm not grading it seriously either. The fact that the Bears think they're actually upgrading J'Marcus Webb at left tackle by obtaining Jermon Bushrod is an absolute joke. In fact, I really don't think the front office has watched a second of Bushrod's tape.

Bushrod allowed tons of pressures every week. The reason his sack total was so low was because Drew Brees released the ball so quickly. Bushrod's sack numbers will increase exponentially as he's trying to block for Jay Cutler. That means Cutler will likely miss multiple games due to injury yet again. The Bears would be better off with Webb manning the blind-side position again. I find it so ridiculous that an NFL front office would pay so much money to a pedestrian player.

Yeah, that was pretty over the top.

Moderately surprised and happy with these moves. I really like Bennett, he will be a very solid piece to this offense and their aggressiveness in signing him early clearly shows the brass' confidence in that theory.

The remaining cap will likely be used to resign our own free agents, like Hayden, Idonije, Roach. I'd be thrilled to see them add an interior OL, but I have a feeling they are willing to move ahead to the draft with the pieces they have.

Despite his poor performance I would like to see Urlacher back, as long as he budges on $. I could see Roach bolting, he is drawing a lot of interest. Don't want a glaring LB hole to open up.

Bear fans, this is your new tight end.

After thorough research I have decided that this man is my favorite Bear of all time.

This will never go over amongst Chicago meatballs who set their watch by Johnny Unitas's haircut. They will almost assuredly mistake his goofiness for being a bad guy.

I watched his other Cap 'N Crunch video and im just worried about him developing type 2 diabetes.

Cutler on Bushrod:

"He played on a very explosive offense and is a true professional," Cutler said Tuesday night. "We just exchanged text messages. He's excited to come here. He's excited about the opportunity and I'm excited to play with him. To have a guy like that who's capable of locking down the back side, it frees up a lot of things you can do in both the passing game and the running game."

And on Bennett:

Cutler is familiar with Bennett's background as a high school basketball star who played the sport when he first arrived at Texas A&M before deciding to focus solely on football.

"He's explosive and he's an incredible athlete," Cutler said. "He's explosive in the passing game and he's also a really good blocker, and I think that's what sets him apart.

"You can leave him on the field and get preferable match-ups with linebackers and be able to run the ball as well if they put in [an extra defensive back]. He's a match-up problem for defenses, which with a guy like [new head coach] Marc Trestman, we'll be able to take advantage of."

Tellus can give off that sulking or not working hard vibe at times just by the way he walks around on the field but he really is a very hard worker. I'm sure at some point the media and/or meatballs will freak out about it. I think they'll love the goofiness aspect about him. Everyone loved Jim McMahon.

Sean Jensen has confirmed ProFootballTalk’s report that the Bears have parted company with TE Kellen Davis, saving them $2.5million in cap space.

Keep in mind Walter thought Long was the best potential free agent tackle this offseason, better than Ryan Clady!

@ESPNChiBears

One #Bears UFA on the club's lack of communication with their own free agents, "They want their own guys." Such is life in the NFL.

@ESPNChiBears

Still believe the #Bears will try and re-sign some of their UFAs but at a discounted rate.
