Any recommendations for places to eat/drink/things to do in Tuscaloosa?

Dreamland has branched out and has restaurants in many cities now, but the original in Tuscaloosa is a bit more rustic. The menu for the Dreamland in Tuscaloosa is much smaller than the other locations...just ribs, pulled pork, barbecue chicken, sides, and banana pudding. If you like a vinegar barbecue sauce, then you'll probably like Dreamland's.

I've heard Epiphany Cafe is pretty good...bit more upscale. http://epiphanycafe.vpweb.com/Dinner-Menu.html. I haven't been to DePalma's, but it's probably the best italian you'll get in Tuscaloosa.

It's been about ten years since i've been to bars in Tuscaloosa, so I'm not sure how things are these days. I'll ask a couple of buddies and get back to you.

If you think the history of Bama football may be interesting, checkout the Paul Bryant museum. If you aren't interested in the history of other schools, it will probably just be nauseating.

Thanks. I've heard of Dreamland. What does "meat-n-three" mean?

pretty self-explanatory...you get your choice of meat/protein and then three sides to go with.

I definitely want to check out the museum. Not only do I enjoy the history of the game, I do have a lot of respect for the Bear. He left us to go to Alabama and had a legendary group of players known as the Junction Boys while at A&M. ESPN even did a shitty movie about them a few years back starring Tom Berenger. Let me know what you find out about the bar scene. Thanks.

Makes sense, just never heard the term before.

Galettes is where all the greeks hangout and hotties plentiful. Houndstooth is the best sports bar and will packed on gameday. Those and many other bars are on 'the strip' on Univeristy Blvd close to the stadium. Innisfree is a decent irish pub a little farther down univ. blvd.

At some point people have to realize he just isn't a good coach.

Hopefully USC won't for a very long, long time.

Rumors out there on Southern Cal boards that he's gone at the end of the year. So sad.

So, USC policy on head coaches:

1) Get caught cheating but in national championship picture: OK

2) Get caught cheating but not in national champ picture: FIRED

Ha, isn't that the policy of 99% of the schools in the NCAA?

I think they'd be wise to keep him until the scholarship sanctions are done. They're not going to optimize their hire until the sanctions are over.

I assumed that was Haden's plan. He was steering the committee that hired Laney so I think that was the idea going in. But maybe he's too embarrassing to keep for 2 more years.

they already have five 5-star recruits and soon to be six, they should just let him hang around and hire better coordinators or something; it's not like USC has a proud history of ethics he's jeopardizing

Purdue's offensive coordinator is not making the trip to Iowa because he has a back injury. Maybe we have a chance!

As far as I know, Iowa's offensive coordinator is showing up so, yeah, you do.
