I love the guy pulling out the stat that Dusty is 1-10 in playoff series clinching games in his career with Giants/Cubs/Reds.

That can't be correct. The Giants went to the World Series under Baker (i.e., won two playoff series clinching games in the NLDS and NLCS) and the Cubs won one playoff series in 2003.

Maybe it's elimination games (Games 5 and 7)?

I think he meant winner take all games.

I doubt he's managed in 11 different elimination games. I think he's only been in the playoffs 6 times total (3 with the Giants, 1 with the Cubs, 2 with the Reds)

It's not his career, it's just his last 11 games in which either team could be eliminated (not necessarily both, i.e. a Game 5 or 7):

0-2 against the Angels in the World Series

1-1 against the Braves in the 2003 LDS

0-3 against the Marlins in the 2003 LCS

0-1 against the ... whoever in the 2010 LDS

0-3 (prematurely including today) against the Giants in the 2012 LDS

The original statement was adding the assumed loss today, but even then it's off.

Entering today, Dusty's teams have lost their last five potential series clinching games (Games 3 and 4 with the Reds and 5-7 in 2003 with the Cubs). They're also 1-8 in the last 9 (Cubs beat Atlanta in Game 5 but lost Game 4 and the Giants lost Games 6 and 7 in 2002).

Overall, Dusty's teams are 3-8 in series clinching games (the Giants won Game 5 in the 2002 NLCS over St. Louis and Game 5 in the 2002 NLDS over Atlanta).

I suspected we'd see a team come back from down 0-2 in this year's LDS because of the 2-3 format, but I definitely didn't expect it a team that lost their first 2 games at home and then won 3 on the road.

2010 was against the Phillies.

Or who I thought was the best team in the NL.
