Joc Pederson has hit three 450+ HRs in the past 2 days, including an MLB-season-high 480 footer last night. It was at Coors, but still. Guy is a [expletive] beast.

 

I was curious about his draft status and was shocked to find out he was an 11th round pick. Signability or what?

I did some Googling and it looks like he was considered likely to head to college, but LA bought him out of it.

The Dodgers drafted him in the 11th round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Palo Alton High School. He was committed to play college ball at USC, but was swayed by a $600,000 bonus the Dodgers gave him to sign.

 

Yeah, he was a top 200 prospect in that draft. Same draft as Kris Bryant's first one.

So Lance Lynn threw 118 pitches last night and 117 were fastballs. Literally. Apparently there were long stretches where Molina wasn't even putting down signs. The Cardinals won the game 1-0 with only 4 hits, one of which was by Lynn.

So Brandon Moss hit is 100th home run last week, and his own bullpen guys caught it. They're holding the ball ransom, essentially each asking for an expensive Apple product in return for the ball. Whatever, sort of funny. Moss has refused to pay, saying it's 10K worth of stuff. That's fine, too. I mean, he makes 4 mil a year, but I can still understand balking at paying 10k for a ball.

 

But now Apple is stepping in and picking up the tab, and I find myself kind of annoyed. This is a bunch of very wealthy people. League minimum is 500K. Nobody needs a free anything from the [expletive] Apple Store here. Donate that [expletive] to charity or something.
